    Hi David,
cannot see this with InDesign CC 2019 on Windows 10.
And yes, the issue is with InDesign 2020. Even with the latest version on Prerelease: 15.1.0.408.

    Hi Carl,
I feel the same. Even if my laptop screen is a bit bigger in size this issue makes me really angry.
Have to move the panel always around.

    Hi together,
as far as I can tell this issue seems to be fixed on Prerelease.
I tested with the latest German prerelease version of InDesign on Windows 10.

"…on top of that restarting indesign doesn't solve it at all"

Of course my suggestions are workarounds.
May I ask why "Quit InDesign" and "Restart InDesign" does not work for you?
What happens if you open the document you did the package from after restarting InDesign?

In my tests on Windows 10 this is stopping the behavior of adding a new folder with a Document fonts folder only that contains a lst file.

    Hi John,
    the solution:
    Uninstall InDesign 15.0.2.323 and re-install version 15.0.1.

Or if you want to keep the current version:

    1. Package your document.
    2. Quit InDesign
    3. Open InDesign and work on until you have to package a document.

    Hi Abhinav,
I see the issue as well with my German InDesign 15.0.2.323 on Windows 10.

My experience with the bug is this:

    1. Package the active document with Links, Document fonts, IDML and PDF to the suggested folder of function Package For Print.
    2. Move the folder of the package to a different folder.
    3. Close the active document .

    4. Here comes the bug:
In the moment* you are using InDesign's Open command with the ORIGINAL InDesign document you packaged before, a new folder is created. The name of that new "ghost folder" is the same of the moved packaging folder. The folder's position in the file system is the same of the packaged folder where it was created before. The contents of this new folder is a Document fonts folder with one single file: AdobeFnt21.lst

If you open a different document that was not packaged in the same session the new "ghost folder" is not created. I define session as "Start InDesign" to "Quit InDesign".

If you also move or remove the "ghost folder" it will be re-created if you open the document where the once packaged folder was created from.

One can stop that behavior: Quit InDesign. Restart InDesign.

    * I know this exact moment because I have a eventlistening script installed that opens the folder of any exported file in the file system. It looks if the event "afterExport" is fired.

    Hi Lisa,
if you open documents from InDesign CC 2015 where graphic cells contain text frames:
InDesign will crash immediately if you want to duplicate the table. Be it by alt+dragging the table character to a different text insertion point, be it by duplicating the page with the table.

What's new with InDesign 2020: Even if you want to add a text frame BY SCRIPTING to a graphic frame's container InDesign will crash immediately. This still worked with InDesign CC 2019. Not so with InDesign 2020.

    Hi Lisa,
still an issue with InDesign 2020. Nothing changed.

What formatting plugin are you talking about?

I'd inform the makers of the plugin, that there is an issue with text frames or text paths within graphic cells.

    Hi Tara,
it's still possible to insert groups of frames into the container frame of a graphic cell. The only problem: The group must not contain a text frame or a frame with text on path.

This feature—groups with text frames insert in graphic cells—was removed, because a text frame inside a graphic cell will crash InDesign when the table is duplicated, copied/pasted…
I hope, that sometime the developers will fix that issue and the feature will be available again.

    Regards,
    Uwe

PS: There are still tricks to workaround, but I would not recommend them because of the crashes you can get when working on with a table.

    Hi Paul,
I tested a lot with langauage layers and endnotes.
Don't think there is a good solution at all. Not with the concept how endnotes are working currently.
It's better to switch to a workflow where one document goes with one single language.

Don't think the issue is a bug.
The issue is due to a design decission adding the endnotes feature to InDesign.

I'd file a bug with Illustrator and not with InDesign.

    Hi together,
currently all Align tools of InDesign are working with the visible bounds of objects ONLY.
I also like to see an option where Align is using path segments or path points to align objects.

That should be an option even with the Selection Tool.

    Hi Adriank,
you could work around the issue and use a spread with several pages ( up to 10 ! ) where each of the pages are positioned individually on the spread using the Page Tool. That could be done best with NON-facing-pages documents.

    Kasyan Servetski discovered a workaround:
Lock all items in your document. Unlock them after adding or removing pages or moving pages around.
FWIW: Locking layers does not count.

Two very simple ExtendScript-scripts, one for locking all items, one for unlocking all items:
