Text Variables Do Not Work with Auto-Size Text Boxes
When I create a text box that has auto-size (width only) enabled and then insert a text variable (e.g. "modification date"), the entire text variable is collapsed into the width of a single character. It is as if the dynamic width of the text variable causes a bug in the calculation of auto-size, such that the width cannot be determined, and so it all collapses into the width of a single character instead, with all of the characters rendered one on top of the other.
Very disappointing bug, because dynamic text variables and auto-size are a natural fit for one…

Incorrect ligatures in InDesign 2024
In Indesign 19.0.1, ligatures are replaced incorrectly in German. Comparing these with the same document in 18.5.1, where they appear correct, this appears to be a bug in the new version. One screenshot is from INDD 2023 and the other from INDD 2024.

Select multiple cells in a table that are not next to each other.
Good morning,
When we creating a table in Indesign, it is impossible to select several cells at the same time, if they are not side by side.
There is no shortcut yet that allows you to do this.
This would save a lot of time, being able to change the background color, or font, of several selected cells.
For the moment, we have to take the cells one by one, one by one, one by one, one by one... Not really fast...!Thanks in advance for future updates! :-)

Type palettes UI visual problem
Something amiss with the paragraph and character palette, the field contents is showing not where they should be—the zeros or contents of the field are up over the alignment symbols. See screenshots.

Stop stealing focus
Please find a way to make InDesign stop stealing focus every time it does something. It does it 3 separate times on launch, every PDF export, and every time a file finished opening. Some files are 100MB+ and can take time to load, so sitting around waiting for it is not something people with work to do can afford to do all the time, and getting focus stolen in the middle of an email is not a good way to maintain workflow. Autosize height does not work on threaded text frames
Autosize does not work on threaded text frames. Why not? You have a frame break that tells you where the box ends. Can you fix this?

PlaceGun does not have reference to idms textframe
Hi,
I'm trying to place a textframe from an idms file into an indesign document. The actual loadPlaceGun() operation seems to work fine as I'm able to paste the textframe on the page. However, I also want to have a reference to that textframe. I was trying to accomplish this by using
placeGun.pageItems.everyItem().getElements(), but it doesn't return any elements. I find this odd because I'm using the same method when inserting images and it works fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Adobe InDesign 2024 (v19.0) - Unable to create own style pack (error popup)
When I try to create a new style pack I get the dialog to apply different styles. When choosing the according styles for Heading, Subheading,... I only get an error pop up. When confirming, I get another alert, a couple of times in a row (for every following style to apply one). After confirming all alerts I get one or more text frames filled with example text (no specific format / settings) on the first page of the document.

Application frame not re-aligning after screen change.
Waking my MacBook after disconnecting from a secondary (and larger) screen, often leaves my Application frame in the previous size. And due to the fact that this formerly connected screen is much larger than my MacBook, it leaves the frame in a size and postion which makes it impossible to fetch, resize, or drag it to a hot area to force it to re-arrange properly.
Resetting the workspace, or switching application frame off/on, doesn't help. I have to Quit/Restart InDesign to let it realign its frame to the new screen size.
InDesign version 19.3, MacOS 12.6.2.

Online Publishing not taking all images
Using both InDesign 19 and 18.5, publishing online no longer functions on a Mac running Sonoma 14.1. This issue started days ago. I’ve Packaged projects, saved them locally, and confirmed all images are linked but when I publish them, some images do not tranfer. And it’s random. If I publish over and over again, an image that didnt appear before may make it through. This is a terrible bug for me personally as I rely on digital publishing and sharing interactive presentations for my business.

Publish Online Suddenly not displaying images correctly since 6th November 2023

Yesterday I tried to update an InDesign document which I'd published online.
I had to add some stuff to the document which I then published online with the changes (new publish, not over written) and it seemed to break some of the embedded images. I thought it must be the changes however I did test the back up I had which was an identical document and when publishing it online again some of the images or all of them are broken. Right-to-left paragraph orientation causes problems
Hello and thanks in advance to the respondents.
For several months now I have been suffering from a very annoying problem in InDesign and I have not been able to find a solution.
When I set the writing direction from right to left (using the edit menu - right to left), the arrow keys on the right and left keyboard stop responding as they should, and instead of each click the cursor moves one character to the right or left, clicking on them jumps the cursor to the beginning or end of the line.

Page Label Not Inherited from Parent to Document Page
I'm assigning a page label to a parent page using by script like
myParentPage=app.activeDocument.masterSpreads.itemByName("PRD-Products").pages[0];
myParentPage.insertLabel("page", "products");When I insert a new document page based on this parent page, the page label is NOT inherited but just empty.

Starting or Closing Indesign makes a freeze

Working in a company.
Since the last Update 2 from our collueges have freeze while starting or closing Adobe InDesign.
Already tried older version, clean fonts, temps and caches.Task-Manager shows this (screenshot)
Nothing from the CEPHtmlEngine solutions in Adobe worked.Someone has a idea?

creative cloud libraries bug
Hi, in indesign creative cloud libraries is borked. In each library only the top level will show and only four items from that level, all folders within a library show as empty. True for all libraries. They all load fine in illustrator/photoshop etc.
Latest version as of 27/03/2024. Windows 11.
reinstalled, reset prefs etc. Not helping issue only present in indesign, seriously impeding work flow. please fix

Exporting a page to an existing PDF file
Hello,
I've been using Indesign for over 20 years and I often come across the following problem: you're working on a large catalogue, you export it as a PDF and after proofreading, a page needs to be corrected. You apply the correction and export the whole catalogue again, overwriting the previous one, or (another method) you export just the corrected page and import it into the PDF using Acrobat tools.It might be interesting to be able to tell Indesign to export only the corrected page and to integrate it directly into the existing PDF in order to save time…

Export - Jpg - Page Size - Suffix
Love the new update where you can change the export options to include a specific Suffix, however could you remove the spaces between the sizes in the Page Size Suffix export? For example, 700 x 200 would be 700x200. This will help speed up the process in file naming as we can not have spaces in files names in any graphics for our websites.
