1. [ID-4272086]TAB indents are getting removed on dragging the left side

   Good morning, I updated InDesign to version 21 and I'm having problems with the tab stops on both PCs. In the tab settings, if I set three tab stops, for example, the first at 10 cm, the second at 20 cm, and the third at 30 cm, if I move the first one, the other two disappear.
   With the beta version, there were no problems. I tried resetting the preferences, but nothing. A technician connected and checked the problem. He said to report the bug.

   Punctuation marks are randomly disappearing in justified Hebrew text blocks (RTL direction), specifically at:
   - Paragraph endings
   - Forced line breaks
   - Last lines of justified paragraphs

   Specific Behavior in RTL Context

   1. When Hebrew text is set to justified alignment, punctuation marks vanish:
      • At the end of paragraphs

   2. Exception: Punctuation marks remain visible if the last line is explicitly right-aligned
   3. The issue appears to be specific to RTL text direction and does not occur in LTR text

   Known Workarounds and Their Limitations

   1. Legacy Composition Engine Option:

      • While switching to the legacy composition engine in preferences resolves this specific issue
      • We strongly advise against this solution due to:
        • Previously reported bugs and limitations in the legacy engine (see bug reports #ID-4245219)
        • Performance issues documented in our earlier reports
        • Compatibility concerns with newer features
      • We require a proper fix in the current composition engine rather than reverting to legacy solutions

   2. Temporary Layout Workaround:

3. [ID-4243320] Incorrect cursor movement in RTL text when Harfbuzz text shaping is used.

   InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)

   In right-to-left languages ​​(Hebrew & Arabic) the cursor movement went crazy:
   - Left key - goes up
   - Right key - jumps to the end of the line...
   We can't work that way

   Note: both (23\25 indd) set to 'Visual' in preferences > right-to-left > cursor movement (of course, changing the setting to 'logical' doesn’t solve it)

5. [ID-4260027] “Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search

   “Change Case” option does not refresh when opening saved search
   When a “Change Case” option is set on the GREP tab of the Find/Change dialog, it remains active until it is manually cleared or InDesign is restarted. This is a problem since it means that saved searches are producing unexpected results. Other options in the “change format” refresh as expected, so this appears to be a bug. It is especially problematic when running a chain of GREP searches because incorrect capitalization can result in numerous errors.

6. [ID-4255452] Text variables with modification date not working when saved to Cloud.

   I created a text variable to update the date when the document is modified. When I opened my document in the beta version of InDesign, the text frame for my text variable was empty. I tried to re-enter the variable, and I tried making a new variable. When I selected a variable that included the current date, it would not appear. I created a Modification Date text variable and a custom text variable based on the Modification date. They appeared correctly. I saved the InDesign doc to the cloud. Once I applied a paragraph style, the text disappeared in both boxes.

7. installed font missing InDesign 17.2 macOS 12.3 (Monterey) and macOS Catalina

   Different clients have the same problem. Installed fonts on the system are not recognised by InDesign 17.2. Other Adobe applications recognise the font and it can be used in those applications. I can recreate the problem, my colleague not. After downgrading InDesign to version 17.01 everything works fine.

   We've just released InDesign 17.2.1 version which addresses this issue.

   Please update to this latest version using Creative Cloud Desktop application.

   In case the fix does not work immediately for you, please try the following:

   1) Quit InDesign.

   2) Delete the following:

   on Mac:

   /Users/[yourname]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign

   /Users/[yourname]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign

   on Win:

   C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign

   C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign

   
   

   Relaunch InDesign & see if it works properly now.

8. Hanging drop cap has wrong indents in 2023 v18

   In v18 (2023), when a paragraph has both a drop cap and a hanging indent (negative first line indent), the indent gets messed up on subsequent lines.

   This came from a bug report by Lut Van Nooten on the InDesign Secrets LinkedIn group:

   The solution is to disable the new Composition Preference: "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap"

   However, in this case, this is clearly a bug because there is no text wrap!

9. Importing Excel unformatted table text-based formulas import as "-1"

   1. Indesign 17.4

   2. steps to reproduce:
      a) In Microsoft Excel (for Mac version 16.63.1), in cell A1 add "Some text"
      b) in cell B1 add formula "=A1"
      c) save excel document .xlsx
      d) Import into indesign as Unformatted Table

   3. expected result: table cell A2 contents should be "Some text", same as A1

   4. Actual result: table cell A2 contents is "-1"

10. Spell Check does not work after installing InDesign 15.0.2

    Dear Adobe Team,
    in our office we use In Design from several years without nothing problems.

    Yesterday we had updated the version 15.0.2. After that, the spell-check (we use the Italian language) don’t work if we import text in a existing document.

    But if we import text in a new document, the spell-check work without problems.

11. Opening Text Wrap panel crashes application

    2. Place image, open text wrap panel, does not open panel and crashes.
       Happens with any image and any document. Panel opens fine if pic box empty.

12. Type 1 Fonts

    Preflight has the ability to flag Type 1 fonts. This is a great way to see if you are using fonts in a document that will not be supported in the future. The problem is there are OpenType Type 1 fonts and PostScript Type 1 fonts. In Preflight, when you click on Type 1 fonts not allowed, it also flags OpenType Type 1 fonts.

    Would be very important to identify exactly what fonts will not be supported in the future.

13. Find Format and Change Format option unavailable in Find/Change-文字種変換

    Version : Adobe InDesign 2021(ver.16.0.1 ja_JP)

    1.Steps to reproduce the issues
    1. Open Find/Change Window.
    2. Select "文字種変換" and click "Specify attributes to Find" and Select Style button.
    3. The selected Style does not shown in "Find Format" area and we can't apply it. However, click the button, we can see selected Style we selected previouse step.
    4. The Change Format in "文字種変換" also unavailable.

    2.Expected result
    The selected style is displayed correctly in Find Style area and is correctly apply.
    Also, the replacement style is set correctly in Change Style and replaced as well like InDesign 2021.

    1. Actual result We can't set Find Format and Change Format options in "文字種変換" in Find/Change window. Test file, screenshot, video or GIF capturing the issue (optional)

14. Endnotes user content can leak into the main story

    InDesign/InCopy 2021 16.x

    Editing a story with InCopy shouldn't cause user-entered extra endnote content to leak into the main story.

    The first character of user content directly after the terminating endnote marker (so in the same paragraph as the terminating endnote marker) can leak into the main story when the story's link is updated.

    The attached screenshot (leakedtext.png) shows Story A (Id1), which has some user content directly after each endnote, being exported to and viewed in InCopy (Ic), where an X, Y, and Z have found their way from the endnotes into the main story during the opening of the ICML file. The same X, Y, & Z appear in the main story of the InDesign document (Id2) after updating from the ICML file.

15. Spellcheck is grabbing the comma after words, causing an error

    Since upgrading to Indesign 2021 v16.0, when I run a spell check, if it catches a word it thinks is misspelled but that word has a comma after it, spellcheck also grabs the comma. If I attempt to Add that word to my user dictionary, I get an error "Words ending in punctuation other than ending periods may not be added into the dictionary". This never happened in previous versions of Indesign. See attached screengrab.

    Anchored textframe with auto-sizing/auto-adjusting "height", text aligned to baseline and anchored object settings "anchored position: custom", "anchorPoint: bottom left/center/right" causes InDesign 2020 (15.0.1) to freeze (on Mac and PC).

    1. create an new document (size doesn't matter)
    2. create an new textframe (dimensions doesn't matter)
    3. create a second textframe (dimensions doesn't matter)
    4. insert some text in second generated textframe
    5. select the text and apply the option "align to baseline".
    6. anchor second textframe into the first created textframe
    7. set anchored object settings of the anchored textframe to: "anchored position: custom" and "anchorPoint: bottom left or bottom center or bottom right"

    8. select the anchored textframe

    9. choose the textframe fit option "frame to content" or use the shortcut "strg + alt + c" on PC

    InDesign 2020 freezes.

    or repeat steps 1. to 8. and choose auto-sizing type "height" or "height and width" or "height and width proportionally" for the anchored textframe

    In previous versions (CC 2018, CC 2019) auto-adjusting "height" works as expected

17. Khmer Script Punctuation Line Breaking Is Broken

    Regression Bug (used to work in InDesign CS 5.5)

    Adobe InDesign CC 15.03 currently will break lines between Khmer script and its punctuation even though no space is present (Khmer Unicode Punctuation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khmer_script#Spacing_and_punctuation ) as pictured in the attachment.

    Desired Result: Khmer punctuation should stay with the Khmer script preceding it (just like an English period, comma, question mark, etc. does). The whole word should line break with the punctuation (currently Khmer uses zero-width spaces [U+200B] to indicate a word-boundary).

18. Variable Font not working in InDesign 2020

    We came along a severe bug within InDesign 2020 and Variable Font.

    The issue has been fixed in the latest release of InDesign – InDesign 2021. The fix was also available in the previous version of InDesign – version 15.1.2
    Please update to either of these versions of InDesign to get the fix.

19. ID 2020 - Indent in combination with wrap text around an image not working

    In Indesign 2020, whenever I want to wrap text next to an image, but the text also has an indent the text jumps from the supposed position.
    In Indesign 2019 this did not happen. The text was wrapped nicely next to the image, the way you should expect.

    My guess what happens here, is that the indent specs are applied not the the edge of the frame, but to the edge of the text. Which corrupts the spacing between the image and the text.

    I'm working with the latest 2020 version on iMac with Catalina

    This issue is addressed with a new option "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap" in Preferences > Composition dialog. This option is ON for new docs created in ID2023 and needs to be turned ON for docs created in older versions of InDesign when opened in ID2023.

20. Serious problem of "^" for GREP search

    Enter only "^" in the GREP search string field and click the search button to select the insertion point at the beginning of the paragraph. But this cannot be used for replacement. The replacement result is 0.
    I gave up that it was only useful for simple pointing tricks, but when I run it from a script the application hangs.

    It is like this. (When executed, the rainbow cursor will rotate forever.
    Please be careful. )

    app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "^";
    var res = app.activeDocument.findGrep ();

    If the replacement string field is "~ c" (the contents of the clipboard), the first character is lost from the original text instead of entering it.
    This is also a very dangerous behavior.

    Requests for improvement include:
    Improved to prevent hang when executing the above script,
    If possible, replace text (add a character string to the beginning of a paragraph).

    GREP検索文字列の欄に"^"だけを入力、検索ボタンをクリックすると、段落の先頭の挿入点が選択されます。しかしこれを置換には利用できません。置換結果は0個となります。
