Adding a word starting with the Danish letter æ makes InDesign crash
Add a word starting with the Danish letter æ to an index invariably crashes InDesign, both the small æ and the capital Æ, no matter which method we use. Words where this letter is not placed at the beginning, like “bæverfælde", are no problem, nor are the two other Danish characters ø and å.
We also tried to add the words from a list, using a script which places index markers on every instance in the document; this did not make InDesign crash, but no entries were added either :-(
Perhaps connected to the fact that it is no longer…1 vote -
InDesign becomes non-responsive
Since updating to 19.4, InDesign often becomes non-responsive during normal work. UI items become grayed out and I have to click on document tabs multiple times to switch documents. I cannot edit things – nothing happens when I click in a document. I have to save documents (thank goodness that still works) and restart InDesign to get it back to normal

Indesign crashes when attempting to copy or delete a table with an anchored text form field.
Mac Monteray 12.7.6 - Indesign 2024
I'm using tables to hold form fields for a PDF form. When a text form field is anchored in a table, copying the table will cause text fields to disappear. Continuing to copy or delete that table will eventually cause a InDesign to crash. When reopening Indesign none of the menu commands work properly and I have to use Command Q to quit InDesign again and reopen in order to continue my work.

Every possible action on notes freeze or crash InDesign 2024
I had this issue in a very simple one A4 page document that has a single text area filled with text and some not complicated header elements (including a placed image) in InDesign 2024 (v. 19.5) file.
I created 4 notes with 1-2 words each.
Anything I did with notes after that, the app freezes or crashes each time. Is that a known bug?

Documents not showing when changing screens.
When disconnecting my MacBook Pro from my Apple Studio Display open documents are not showing on the laptop screen - only blank grey screen. I can mark its content but nothing but bounding boxes are visible. Have to shut down all documents and start all over.

InDesign 2024 19.4 crashes if you apply a Style Pack to multiple selected unthreaded text frames. In previous versions this worked just fine
InDesign 2024 19.4 (Mac M2 Max chip, macOS Ventura 13.6.7) crashes if you apply a Style Pack to multiple selected unthreaded text frames. In previous versions this worked just fine.
2 votesThe fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

Version 19.4 Persistent error dialog "RM: error creating temporary record definition sheet"
On iOS 13.6.6. Problem began after updating to 19.4.
As soon as I create a new document or open an existing doc, the error dialog above appears, and reappears immediately when dismissed, preventing any further work.
Version 18.5.2 on same machine still functions as normal, but is not not an acceptable long term workaround due to lack of current plugins.
I've already tried deleting /Users/{me}/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign/Version 19.0 folder. Folder was recreated at application launch, as expected, but did not resolve the error.

Crash upon startup (During 'Loading Shortcuts')
InDesign is crashing every time I try to start it on my desktop machine. Computer is running current InDesign and current Windows OS.
The InDesign start screen appears, and the progress text proceeds to "Loading Shortcuts," and then does not progress further. After 3-4 minutes, the entire UI of the OS freezes, crashes, and will not restart. I have to restart the computer by holding down the power button.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign, but that did not change the behavior.
I am completely unable to use InDesign on my main workstation.

Text selecting freeses program
Today I updated InDesing to 19.4 It is no longer possible to work - every time you mark the text block, the clock starts spinning and everything hangs. ****, why publish an update without testing it well and thus hinder our work. I was forced to install version 19.3 back.

InDesign 19.4 crashing when clicking on text box
I have a Lenova ThinkPad Windows laptop on Win 10 Enterprise, Build 19045. After updating from 19.3 to 19.4, the program began crashing whenever I clicked on a text box.
I tested with different documents with the same results. I tried a few of the "usual" fixes for crashes (including removing the prefs folder and exporting to IDML) with no success, so I downgraded to 19.3. Downgrading fixed the problem, so there appears to be a compatibility problem with my system.

Crashes when changing font, copying text and saving as another file type
I have been tryin to open one of my 'old' Indesign files (2017). At the time I used Cross-References plugin DTP tools. I no longer use it. It keeps populating a notification that the plugin is missing, but it still opens the INDD document. I have tried saving the document—
1) as an IDML document and that does not work.
2) I have also tried saving as a new document but the issue remains the same.
3) I have tried copying the text from it to a new INDD document, it crashes every time and I have sent crash reports.…2 votes -
launch failure
Indesign 2023 (version 18.5)
Running on Mac OS Ventura (13.1)Indesign fails to launch. Whether clicking the application icon through finder or from the Creative Cloud window. The app starts loading, then after scanning for plugins it instantly closes with no crash report. I was able to launch after uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling Indesign version 18 but after closing the program once, the problem returned and I had to repeat the above. This method is not acceptable for daily use.

Crash on object state rename
This happens to me regularly. With an object selected, I use the button for Convert selection to multi-state object from the Object States panel. If I then try to rename the states, InDesign immediately quits. Reopening InDesign takes me back to just before I created the MSO.
I've learned to save immediately after creating MSOs and then rename states. That's my workaround. I thought it would be good to mention though, as it seems related to the old inability to rename states bug that was fixed.
I'm using ID 19.4 on MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1
