  1. Mystery white hairlines showing up on edges of Published Online Document

I am having an issue with documents published online and viewed in Google Chrome. For some reason there are thin white hairlines showing up on the edge of certain pages that are not in the actual InDesign document. On a couple of pages in my book, I have made the background color the same as the background color that shows up in the browser, but these hairlines are still showing the edge of the page.

Screenshots of the white hairlines attached.

  2. Footnote numbering in InDesign does not heed setting

I have a single indd-document containing a book with 300+ footnotes in it. I have set the footnote numbering to "Restart numbering at every --> Section" (i.e. Chapter).

But when I export the document to an EPUB file, InDesign does not heed this setting but keep running the numbering up to "348".

I suspect this is a bug in inDesign 2020 (15.0.1), as there seem to be no good reason for this behavior.

  3. Publish Online Dashboard Fails to Show Analytics

The analytics information will not load for individual documents or in the overview tab for documents published online from InDesign. I have found this to be a problem on macOS Mojave and Windows 10 using multiple web browsers including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

When attempting to use view analytics or delete the online document, nothing occurs on the Document Trends page.

Documents published from InDesign 19.0 onwards will no longer support integrated analytics from the dashboard. You can integrate Google Analytics to track insights into your documents.

Analytics for documents published from the previous versions of InDesign will continue to be collected until November 30, 2024, after which no new analytics will be collected.

  4. Master page shadow/effects cause white knockouts when published online

When using the Publish Online feature, effects applied to elements on a master page is causing white knockouts in the online viewer. Further testing showed that having type behind the master page effects appears to make the knockout go away.

  5. animation file from indesign, 'recovered files' every time in trash (indesign didn't crash)

when I save an animation file from indesign, I get a 'recovered file' every time I restart my Mac. I try to remove it, but then my document starts going crazy. (indesign didn't crash, it just happens)

animation in indesign works fine, but the maps keep coming and it is irritating.

  6. shared destination hyperlinks do not get inserted into exported epub 3 (InDesign CC 2020 v15.0)

I have a document with many shared destination hyperlinks. When I go to export this document out to an epub 3 file, non of the shared destination hyperlinks are inserted into the epub file. This is a huge problem.

Need More Info  ·  amaarora responded

    Hi,
Can you please share a sample file with which the issue is reproducible at amaarora@adobe.com?

I tried with some custom files but was unable to see the issue (checked on Sigil epub viewer)

    Thanks

  7. Email Hyperlinks Not Responding in Published Online File

I have a document that contains some email hyperlinks throughout it. I set up the hyperlinks with the link to "email" option, and then the address as the destination. Creating a "mailto:xyz@xyz.com" link.

After publishing online, when the links are clicked on, it takes the page to a "could not connect" page and does not respond correctly. BUT all email links work completely fine when copied and pasted, right click and opened up in a new tab, when clicking directly from an exported PDF, when clicking from the downloaded PDF from the published online document, etc. It's only…

The animated gif in attachment does not animate in InDesign or when part of a published ebook. I used the Mac iBook to view it.

  11. publish online navigation buttons disappear in browsers and don't come back

When I view a published document, the browser based navigation buttons and menu for downloading disappear after a couple seconds and don't come back without hitting F5. This is unworkable. Please change it so the nav arrows remain on the screen, even in full screen mode. I can't have my clients struggling to go to the next page. This happens in Chrome and Firefox. In Edge, they disappear, but will reappear if I move my mouse to the edge of the screen - also very frustrating because I just want to click through the document without struggling to find the…

This issue has now been fixed for the browsers which were showing this anomalous behavior.

Please check to see if it is working fine now and let us know if the problem still occurs for you.

  12. InDesign Publish Online Not Clickable on Windows in Chrome or Firefox

Working in: Adobe InDesign CC 2018

We recently published a guide online using Adobe Publish online. The clickable elements (buttons, interactive elements) are not clickable on touchscreen PCs in Chrome or Firefox, but the touchscreen works (not as clean, but works). This issue is not present when the PC users are in safari or internet explorer. All content was created and published on a Mac, and no macs have had an issue.

The content is private, but I can send the guide to anyone from Adobe on a person-person basis.

  13. Minion Pro Glyphs won't export to epub

Minion Pro glyphs won't export to epub despite license saying it's supposed to be supported. Other glyphs are working (wingdings 2 are showing in the pic). It does export to pdf, just not epub.

  14. Text variables consistently break export to fixed epub, resulting in crash.

When there are multiple text variables (say in a running foot, or TOC) the export to fixed epub causes InDesign to crash. When the variables are resolved to actual text, the export works fine. I tried this in InDesign 14.0.2 and also in the Beta Build (14.0.3.407) with the same (crash) result.

  15. HTML export creates random "id" values for Object styles tags

When exporting html and I check include classes, InDesign generates "id" values for Object Styles.

This could be be useful if there was a way to define the "id" value, but there seems to be no way to do that. Nor is there a way to turn it off outside of unchecking export class

  16. Export to Fixed Layout EPUB - Poor Image Quality

I am currently working on a graphic novel project that I am planning on submitting to apple books as an epub file. The files were created in adobe illustrator and subsequently, linked into adobe indesign to create the final published product. I have noticed that the image quality when exported to epub is far inferior to when that same file is exported to a pdf file. That is regardless of the alterations that you make to PPI or other options (such as altering between PNG, JPG and other file formats) prior to exporting to epub. I have adjusted the PPI…

  18. Publish Online RTL (Right-to-Left) support

InDesign CC has a very good rtl support but when i publish online a document with binding from right to left it works in Print but not in publish online. Publish online always leads to left to rightsliding. Is this a bug or do i miss something? Thank you

  19. Publish online feature not working after deactivating renewal of creative cloud plan

After I deactivated the renewal of my annual plan (long before the date of renewal), I experienced an issue. When I try to publish from InDesign, it says "error #315: this service is unavailable...". On the My Plans section of the website it says I should still have access to this service until my plan expires. I contacted customer support and they basically told me they can't do anything. I assume this is a bug as the website says I do have access to it, but the app wont let me use it.
