Faulty save facility when updating cross references across a book
When using the update cross-references on the Book panel of CC2020, it opens each chapter, it then updates the references, but then asks you to save and overwrite the chapter that it has updated. Maybe this is suitable for some, but I find it is frustrating when you have to agree to the file's same name and then agree to overwrite when you have over 20 chapters to go through every single time I update cross-references.
CC2019 used to open, update and save the chapters without questioning you. Maybe this is an option I have missed under Preferences.
Kind regards…

Excluding nummering of numbered paragraph titles in TOC does not work when a script generates TOC
Current behavior:
The TOC style specifies to exclude the nummering of numbered paragraph titles (NumberedParagraphOptions.EXCLUDE_NUMBERS).
However, when the TOC is generated by a script via a call to createToc(), the TOC includes the nummering of numbered paragraph titles.Expected behavior:
The TOC excludes the nummering of numbered paragraph titles, as specified in the TOC style. When the TOC is updated manually afterwards, the nummering disappears.
When Googling for this problem, I saw that this issue was mentioned in the old archive. See attachment. Unfortunately, that archive is not available anymore.

Ability to Add more than One Page at a Time
I have a "large" technical textbook, in my case 20 chapters and at least 22 indd files, if I wnt to add a page or two to an existing chapter, each time I click the new page icon, it takes a while for InDesign to reassess page and section numbers. Ten clicks of "new page later", it rather timeconsuming.
How about an option, similar to adding rows/columns to a table, that allows you to specifiy how many pages you would like to add?
At the moment, adding 10 pages means watching it update section numbers 10 times.
Kind regards
Mike…1 voteYou can use the ‘Insert Pages…’ option from the Pages panel flyout menu to add many pages at once. You can also specify where you want to add those pages.
Does this work for you?

Cross references break when layer is duplicated
Indesign version 14.0.3 x64
Issue reproduction: Create a page number cross references that links to a text anchor on a different InDesign document. Close all documents except for the one on which the cross reference is, and then duplicate the layer.
Expected result: the cross refereferences should be preserved.
Actual result: The cross references will break and display <?> on the new layer.
Work-around: open ALL documents that are referenced first (in my case up to 100), then duplicate the layer. Cross references will be preserved.
Sample docs attached... oops "Invalid file type: .indd not allowed"

Creating TOC cause InDesign crash
I have a document of 97 pages and I need to create the TOC with one single style (it's a list of product SKUs).
Every time I click OK on my TOC dialog to create the TOC InDesign crashes.
I tried to convert the document in IDML and reopen it but I have no luck.3 votesThanks for reporting the issue

Multiple variables cause issues when creating a Table of Contents
Version 14.02, Mac
I have a chapter title with nested character styles. Parts of the chapter titles are used to create headers on the subsequent pages. When I try to create a table of contents that includes those headers, there are multiple page numbers coming in. (The page numbers come in twice). I can see this is a known bug since ID 2015, but thought I would mention it is still a problem.1 vote -
We will review it.

Index "Number Style Override" not working on multivolume works
InDesign is not recognizing "Number Style Override" on a book document with seven documents. Only recognizing the overrides on the document in which the index is generated. Major suck points there.
I'm running Mac OSX Mojave, 10.14.1, on a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch from mid 2015. InDesign CC 2019.

Table of contents and variables weird behaviour
When some of my titles have Variables in the TOC (variables that I have created) they appear in the TOC incorrectly. My Variable here is a dash date i.e. 2019-2020. At first I used "–" rather than "-" but both ended up with the same result. I've uploaded all screenshots to demonstrate what I'm talking about: The variable with the longer dash, the variable in the heading and the TOC that relates to it. Notice that some TOC's are affected, but not others, so I'm at a loss.

table of contents bold italic
Use a style for a header that converts text to bold face.
Use that header style to have header text that includes some italics.
In the Table of Contents pane, associate that header style with a style that is Regular type face.
When updating the Table of Contents, the entry for that header will correctly have Bold text replaced with Regular text, but will leave Bold Italic text unchanged. It should replace Bold Italic text with Regular Italic text.

keeping cross references when updating linked data
In my file (IDCC2019), the technical data of the tables are imported from an Excel database. The index generated from these data works perfectly. But when updating these links, cross-references are removed. How to keep cross references when updating linked data?

[ID-4236500]Repackaged book-document cross-references do not update file path
A series of documents in a Book have cross-references to one another. All are correct and working properly.
I create a new package for my publisher and test the cross-references:
they are pointing at locations in my original files rather than the ones in the new package.Since those files exist, the cross-references have good status. Moving that package to a new computer breaks them, of course.

Table of contents problem
Hi.
i am concerned about table of contents generation under indesign cc 2019 (14.0.1).
When the titles to be placed in the table of contents are in a text box, everything happens normally. On the other hand, when the titles are in a table, the generation of the table of contents does not happen properly. See attached example.
Thank you in advance for your answers.

short name in wrong order in TOC
In an index listing by surname of the author the name Li, J. is wrongly placed after Libeau, M. I put this to the forum but nobody can find a fault or fix. See https://forums.adobe.com/message/10822337#10822337

button links missing after TOC update
If I use TOC bookmarks as my destinations for interactive buttons, the Button destinations get lost after updating the TOC. All the button destinations revert to the first item on the buttons and forms list. So it makes it impossible/hard to create a working interactive pdf.

Master pages not updating through book synchronize feature
- Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: 14.0.1 x 64
- Steps to reproduce the issues: a. Make changes to master page in document. b. Using flyout menu in book document, change Synchronize options to synchronize master pages c. Select synchronize from that menu option or highlight documents and choose the synchronize icon at bottom of book panel
- Expected result: Master pages will update to match the master pages of the Style Source document
- Actual result: Some master page elements are updated correctly, but others are not.

numbers being added to end of toc
Bug issue: about midway through my toc headings, the page headers are getting the page number plus 20 added to the end of it. See screenshots. I've replaced the text, removed and reapplied styling. You'd think it'd apply to the whole group, but it's just this section. Thanks
