1. Indesign file shows as modified upon opening a page with placed PNGs

   1. InDesign 19.0.1
   2. Steps to reproduce: open an InDesign file with a placed PNG.
   3. Expected result: file opens, no asterisk appearing next to file name.
   4. Actual result: file opens, PNG re-renders in high quality, asterisk suddenly appears next to file name.

   As of this morning, every time I open a file that has placed PNGs, InDesign flags the document as modified, with the asterisk and asks me if I want to save the document before closing, even I made zero edits. To give even more credence, it only happens when I navigate to a page that has a linked PNG file in it. If I open a file and there are no PNGs on the page, no asterisk (JPGs and other placed graphics are just fine). The minute I "page down" and hit a page that has a placed PNG, it "redraws/re-renders" the PNG (I have high quality previews turned on, and when I get to those pages, the PNGs look a little low-res at first; you can see the dark blue progress bar at the bottom appear as it redraws the preview and then the image looks better once the high quality preview is finished drawing) and then, BAM, asterisk appears. Nothing was modified other than InDesign redrawing/updating the preview.

   I found some older forum topics and a previous bug report from 2018 (IIRC) in which that very thing was being investigated, which is what led me to figure out if that was the culprit for me, as well. It does appear to be so.

2. Scrolling issues

   Scrolling up and down in a document and in the pages widow etc stopped working after v 19.0.1 was installed. Same with alt + scroll to zoom in and out. (PC/Windows).

3. Master page Items on left page missing when overriden on right page's master page when both master pages are based on the same parent

   OK, this bug is INCREDIBLY specific, but unfortunately is completely breaking my project. Example PDF below and INDD file in Google Drive folder here:

   I'm trying to make a multilingual instructions manual (A4, facing pages, 3mm bleed on all sides) with tabs on the page edges for each language. I have one master page "A-Gabarit" which has all the general layout elements and all the language tabs grayed out, and for each language, I have a master page based on A where I override the one tab for that language to color it black (so the EN master page is based on A and has the EN tab overridden, the FR master page is also based on A and has the FR tab overridden and so on)

   What's happening is that depending on how the spread's pages have their master page assigned, some objects dissapear when they shouldn't:
   - If both the left and right pages have A master, everything displays fine
   - If the left page has A master, and the right has EN master, then anything from A that was overridden in the EN master dissappears from the left page, the rest remains.
   - If the left page has EN master, and the right has A master, then everything works fine.
   - If both pages start with A master, and any other master page is applied to the right page, objects overridden in the right page's template will dissappear from the left, even though they were there right before. They reappear if the right page's template is switched back to A again.
   - Finally, and worst part: if the left page has EN master, and the right page has FR master, objects from common parent A master that were not overridden in EN, but were overridden in FR, will dissappear from the left page, so it doesn't actually matter that the left page has the parent master page or another child master based on the same parent, just that it shares elements from the same parent master page as the right page

   The issue only ever appears on the left page

   PDF output is affected, it's not just a display issue.

   My workaround, so far, is to duplicate the colored tabs in each child variant on top of the existing one instead of trying to override them, so that the original is preserved and doesn't dissappear on the left page, or alternately, rebuild all master pages with no "based on X" relation and no overrides, defeating the purpose of having master pages based on other master pages (ouch)

   I'm guessing that when applying master pages on the right page, InDesign is handling overrides on a spread-level instead of a page level, which is problematic when both pages of a spread are using different master pages based on the same parent master page (this has never been an issue for me up until now). Expected behaviour would be for each page to show their own master page content in any context without interference from the facing page.

4. Application Window Bug

   Please fix this annoying bug, Adobe! Ever since I updated to the latest version 18.4 the application window has broken. I have uploaded a screen recording to demonstrate what is happening. I use Shift + W a LOT to view my work in presentation mode. everytime I exit this view the entire application shrinks!! And I have to keep manually resizing the application window. But it doesn't happen when I uncheck 'Application Window' from the window menu. Please fix this. I have never had this issue before.

6. Crop tool namings for german version are irritating

   A view months ago I was posting this issue to the community board already. :-) Thanks to Mr. Tyson for directing me to this page here:

   The assistance describes the differences between the three boxes named "crop", "trim" and "bleed".

   Well, in English there is no mistake if I'm going to import a PDF into my InDesign document, e.g. I'd like to display the final cutted format, than I choose for "Trim" or if I need to prepare a page for professional print shops than choosing "Bleed".

   But in the german edition the namings seem to be inconsequent. In comparison with the Acrobat Crop Tools and the InDesign Import Options
   "T r i m" should be the counterpart to "E n d f o r m a t" or "Z u s c h n i t t"
   while "A n s c h n i t t" seems to be the correct interpretation of "B l e e d".
   Accordingly, "C r o p" would be referred to the german word "B e s c h n i t t ".

   The best woud be, if you replace the german wording of the InDesign "import options" as seen on the following screenshot.

   And for example: an imported PDF with varius import options.

7. Missing feature: Embed INDDs placed in an INDD

   So far, you can embed sort of all linked file types in an INDD, but not other INDDs. This should be possible to save a 100% fixed snapshot of a document.

9. "Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle" behavior in Page Panel is opposite

   About Page Panel menu, "Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle".
   When you check here, you can’t shuffle pages. You need to be off the check to shuffle. It's contrary to content.
   I hope this will be fixed to "Not Allow Selected Spread to Shuffle".

11. Links appears OK but doesn't work when exporting in pdf

    Using Indesign 2023 18.0 on macOs Ventura 13.6

    I have my portfolio file correctly packed and well organized, everytime i open my idml file to make modifications, the link panel appears all OK but i cannot export because of this same links.
    I found a solution is to re-import every files one by one, but i cannot do this anymore, it's too long and this need to be fixed.

12. Indesign 18.5 on MAC 13.5.2_conflicting fonts

    Why am I getting different results than the clients pdf?

    Using same fonts as client. The word IMPACT REPORT is different when I export it.

    The clients font is Gotham Bold but when I open the Indesign, the font shows up as Gotham Distress even though I don't have that font in my Document font folder.

15. Negative values needed size and position options in Object Style

    Currently, you cannot set negative values for the Size and Position Options inside of Object Styles.

    This is an obvious error because sometimes, you need a class of objects to bleed. For example, I would like a ImageFullpage style that I could use to set images that bleed on all four sides.

    This requires that they be positioned at -0.125 x and 0.125 y.

    Also, an ImageCaption style that sets a caption on top of an image should allow me to use -y: .125. When combined with the bottom reference point and the from: "group" option (another request), it would set the caption so that the bottom was aligned 0.125 Inches above the image easily.

16. window gets stuck at the bottom

    I'm on the latest version of Dreamweaver v.18 on Mac Ventura 13.4.1
    Everytime I zoom in the window gets stuck at the bottom and stops scrolling. I can scroll left and right but not up.. I have attached a screenrecording .. Please help

17. Preflight showing overset text on non-visible layer

    Whether I have Visible Layers or Visible and Printable Layers selected in the Preflight Options, preflight still shows as having specific overset text despite layer being unchecked for visibility (ie layer is not visible)

18. Unable to relink more than one image at a time

    Cannot relink more than one image at a time in InDesign 18.2.1 (2023) even when "search for missing links in this folder" box is ticked. Therefore I have to import each image individually, which is time consuming. Has anyone else come across this annoying problem at all?

19. When deleting or adding one single page in the middle of a facing page document, the images in the pages that follow will shift of misalign

    Hi developers, this is a long-lasting problem n it really affects work flow.

    In a multiple facing page document, if you delete or add one single left or right hand page (in my example it's p.36), all the images in the pages that follow will shift in their positions. And if you add one page, then delete that page, the images will not go back to their original position. Allow document or spread to shuffle is checked. This is a MAJOR issue when you are working on document over 100 pages.

    This does not happen before Adobe CC and in my 20 years of using InDesign. Please fix. After talking to technical support on the phone, they cannot offer me a solution and ask me to do a post here.

20. Duplicated page removes some character styles

    Duplicating a page removed some character styles in my document. Only on half the page though.

    Super weird bug, tbh.

    Your site does not allow uploading indesign files (!) but I can supply it upon request.

    It'd be better if that were not a public upload :)
