1. Czech Winsoft dictionary is broken: all lowercase words are marked as misspelled (CC2020)

   The spellcheck of Czech text is not working correctly if you select Winsoft dictionary in all versions of CC2020: it marks all words starting with lower case letter as wrong and recommends capitalising ALL words. Unfortunately the Winsoft dictionary is the only option for Czech language as both Hunspell and Proximity are really bad.

   2 Set Winsoft dictionaries in InDesign preferences
   3 Run spell checker

   There is no workaround unless the document is not in Hebrew and then you can choose the Adobe paragraph Composer instead of the World ready Paragraph composer.

4. InDesign 2020 Middle Eastern, Arabic language causes reversed numbers order

   When working with Arabic and wanting to have Roman Digits, one needs to choose the "Arabic" digits option.
   More option that should be set for Arabic are:
   Character direction should be set to "default"
   Paragraph direction should be set to "Right to Left"
   Paragraph composer should be set to "Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer"
   Language should be set to "Arabic"
   Ligatures should be "On"

   BUT
   If I type a date that suppose to be presented like this:
   9/1/2020
   as soon as selecting "Arabic" for language the order is reversed to this:
   2020/1/9

   As digits has a built in Left to Right direction, all neutral characters between the numbers should get the same definition. This is how it worked until the 2020 update.
   Now it looks that all the "/" characters where not effected by the numbers direction and remained Right to Left direction.

5. Problem with variable fonts letter tracking

   1. Adobe Indesign 15.1.2

   2. There is a problem with letter tracking in variable fonts (please see attached photo)
      I've tried two licensed variable fonts and it occurs with all of them
      (Myriad Variable & 29lt Bukra Variavle)
      I've not changed the default values for letter kerning nor tracking.

   3. Expected results: I expect the text to have the correct letter tracking

6. Textgröße, Kerning etc. im vorgesehenen Menüfeld nicht mehr frei wählbar - Feld ausgegraut

   Hallo,

   seit geraumer Zeit gibt es immer wieder ein Problem in Indesign, welches in Foren meist mit der Hilfe "Caches & Preferences löschen" kommentiert wird. Aber keiner hat je eine Erklärung gefunden oder die Entstehung des Problems lokalisiert.

   Folgende Situation: Man möchte die Schriftgröße, das Kerning, die Laufweite oder sonst etwas in den dafür vorgesehenen Feldern in der Menüleiste ändern - und diese sind plötzlich ausgegraut und können nicht geändert werden. Eigentlich sind sie hellblau und man kann einen beliebigen Wert eingeben.

   Ich habe gerade herausgefunden, an welcher Stelle, in welcher Situation Indesign so reagiert. Es liegt an der Einstellung, wenn man sein Dokumentenfenster schwebend anlegt und nicht angedockt an der Menüleiste. Ändert man das, kann man sofort wieder manuell Werte in die Felder eingeben.

   Es ist also ein versteckter Programmierfehler in Indesign, welchen man vielleicht mal beheben könnte?

7. White boxes appear above and under the text boxes. How do get rid of them?

   I have placed a word-document into InDesign. It worked fine, except that above and under the textboxes there now is white boxes that makes the page numbers not show, even when exported. How do I get rid of them?

8. BUG: spell-checker not automatically applied after pasting text

   When pasting text into a new frame, the correct language (german 2006 in my case) for spellchecker is selected, but not applied to the new text. I need to select the the text and choose a different language for spell-check and then change back to the correct language, then it works.

   A pain in the a**, if you have to copy-n-paste many snippets from different documents to single frames.

9. Latest Indesign update changes text flow.

   InDesign 15.1.1.1 introduces a new error. Text flow in a long document with justified text changes. I am using Mac Mojave 10.14.6. When I reinstalled 15.1 this problem went away.

10. Lao Line Breaking punctuation issues

    When I work with Lao text, punctuation marks do not stay with the line they belong to. As you can see in this attached file, the question mark is on the line AFTER the sentence. This happens even when there is enough space for it to be on the previous line. I have found this issue with other characters such as parenthesis marks as well.

11. RTL quote reverse

    The right and left single and double quotes (U+2018, U+2019, U+201C, U+201D) are displaying (and outputting) reversed in InDesign 14 and 15 when bringing in RTL text. I see no way via a style or setting to fix them, I can only use the wrong ones to make them look correctly. It is not only difficult to fix, but it introduces an opportunity for error, means I am editing the text supplied by my client (something that is very bad policy for us), and makes my file underlyingly inaccurate for archiving.
    In the attached screenshot, you can seen the the right double quotation mark U+201D highlighted. It is facing to the left in InDesign and (properly) to the right in the Tasmeem add-in tool.

12. [15.0.2.323] Big problem with unrecognized user dictionaries

    macOS 10.14.6 - multiple computers with us and with customers

    We noticed today that extensive user dictionaries are recognized as such by the existing documents, but InDesign (current version) completely ignores them and thus incorrectly hyphens them.

    In a special case, a very extensive user dictionary is linked as a symlink (alias) from the Dropbox into the corresponding Linguistics folder in Application Support / Adobe. So far, this worked wonderfully with all versions and has the advantage that adjustments are automatically distributed correctly via the Dropbox.

    I tried the following:
    the symlink resolved and the extensive dictionary (a lot of entries, 1.4 MB) locally as an independent user dictionary in the above Folder placed (added.txt). As a result, InDesign became extremely sluggish - even renaming to .udc didn't help. It was no longer possible to work and large documents could no longer be opened without InDesign reacting after a while and having to be "shot down".

    We have now rolled everything back to v15.0.1, as well as our customers who are working with us on projects with these dictionaries. No problems and InDesign 2020 v15.0.1 works as expected.

    Since this misconduct is absolutely not an isolated case here and can also be observed among all customers involved, a pretty bad bug has crept in with v15.0.2, which makes it impossible for us to work with the latest version.

13. Drop shadow on typed word. Edit the word, the shadow won't change. Have to turn shadow off then back on again.

15. indesign CC 2020 15.1.1 not recognizing font

    document will work fine, then randomly a window will pop up saying that it is missing a font that I have been working with. Restarting Indesign usually works for a brief amount of time

16. Right-to-left

    Text setting RTL text in Adlam is completely usable in ID 2020 and ID 2020 ME. It used to mostly serviceable in prior editions. Postional forms are incorrect with the initial forms becoming medial and final forms becoming initial. In addition, the cursor is always on the wrong side of the letter making marks failing to attach correctly. Finally, text cannot be selected at all.

18. Kerning Drop Cap Bug // Indesign 2020 (15.11)

    Indesign 2020 (15.11) Adjusting the Space Between my Drop Cap and the Next Letter with kerning doesn't work.

    Nothing happens when i want to adjust the space between the drop cap character and the next character?

    It works just fine just one character further along, and between the character before (The drop cap spans over two characters)?

19. anchored, free positioned object inside text frame is wrongly wrapped

    And this is old bug.
    1. place a graphic inline at the start of paragraph,
    2. switch on "wrap around" in "text wrap" options
    3. make place for graphic making apriopriate left indent for paragraph.
    Whole text in paragraph is indented reflecting the shape of wrapped object

    This bug was once repaired few years ago, but now it returned.

20. spell checking for hyphenated expressions

    Spell checking has changed with the most recent release, and expressions which were previously acceptable (and which the Oxford Dictionary of Amercican English thought were correct are now being rejected. For instance: crash-landed.

    The same problem appears with French text, and there the problem is more difficult, as French has lots and lots of hyphenated expressions. "bric-à-brac" is one I've come across already. Le Petit Robert thinks this is correct, and all previous versions of InDesign did too. Please fix. :)
