1. Overset text

   Hi team, I am having issues with overset text. When I drag my text frame outside of the bleed line into the workspace the icon doesn't appear. As soon as I drag it onto my page the icon shows and if I increase the text frame additional text space appears above the word. There is no text wrap on the text frame and is on a completely different layer so arrangement isn't an issue. Can you please help me fix this issue.

2. open type numbers

   in a workaround for another bug in Indesign (Bug: mixed open type numbers) I use a character style for the optentype numbers variety porportional medaevial. Sometimes (!) applying the style to two numbers does not have any effect, it is necessary to apply to a character before and after the numbers to change the style of the numbers.

3. small caps hyphenation bug

   small caps in a hyphenated text sometimes(!) change the first letter before the hyphen to a normal minuscle. See image.

   As shown in the image: "zwi-schen" is correct, "Tradi-tion" (Times New Roman) resp. "Tra-dition" (Ten Oldstyle) shows the bug.

6. Indesign Beta 2025 Importing a PDF - baseline shift is off

   Opening up a PDF (which was orgincailly created in Indesign) in Indesign seemed to shift baseline shifts of body text to -4pt and then the super/sub/ scripts to -7.32pt?

   Punctuation marks are randomly disappearing in justified Hebrew text blocks (RTL direction), specifically at:
   - Paragraph endings
   - Forced line breaks
   - Last lines of justified paragraphs

   Technical Context

   • Text Direction: Right-to-Left (RTL)
   • Language: Hebrew
   • Text Alignment: Justified

   Affected Punctuation Marks

   • Periods (.)
   • Semicolons (;)
   • Commas (,)

   Specific Behavior in RTL Context

   1. When Hebrew text is set to justified alignment, punctuation marks vanish:
      • At the end of paragraphs
      • Before forced line breaks
   2. Exception: Punctuation marks remain visible if the last line is explicitly right-aligned
   3. The issue appears to be specific to RTL text direction and does not occur in LTR text

   Known Workarounds and Their Limitations

   1. Legacy Composition Engine Option:

      • While switching to the legacy composition engine in preferences resolves this specific issue
      • We strongly advise against this solution due to:
        • Previously reported bugs and limitations in the legacy engine (see bug reports #ID-4245219)
        • Performance issues documented in our earlier reports
        • Compatibility concerns with newer features
      • We require a proper fix in the current composition engine rather than reverting to legacy solutions

   2. Temporary Layout Workaround:

      • Right-align the last line of affected paragraphs
      • This is not viable for production as it:
        • Affects layout consistency
        • Requires constant manual intervention
        • Disrupts automated workflows

10. In Arabic OpenType-SVG fonts, glyphs shift seemingly randomly in all directions

    In Arabic fonts with SVG table, glyphs move up, down, left, and right seemingly randomly, and typing more text or adding vowel marks change how the glyphs are shifted.

    If the fonts are processed to remove the SVG table, they work fine (but color glyphs are not colored, obviously).

    Illustrator and Photoshop do not have this issue, and the font with SVG table works normally.

    I tested this with https://github.com/aliftype/raqq/blob/main/fonts/Raqq.ttf as well as https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Reem+Kufi+Ink.

    When spell checking a document the dictionary catches every word because it's defaulting to Croatian and not English. all other settings and preferences within InDesign are specified as English.

13. Selecting text on black background doesn't highlight selection

    Version: Adobe Indesign 2025 (20.0)
    The probled occured in a file that works perfectly in Indesign 19.5. However, when I open the same file in 20.0, the error occurs.

    Problem: When I try to edit text on a black background, the selected words aren't highlighted. It happens on some pages but not all. The layers aren't locked.

    How to reproduce:
    - create a master page with a black background
    - create several pages
    - add text boxes with white text in it
    - try to select the text inside the box

    Expected result:
    - selected text is highlighted in white

    Actual result:
    - on some pages, the text highlight isn't visible (although it is actually selected)

14. Searching for fonts by Japanese name in the context taskbar is not reflected.

    InDesign Ver. 20.0

    This is a trouble when searching for a font by keyboard input of the font name on the context taskbar and selecting from those listed.
    When searching by Kanji, Japanese, etc., the search is not reflected as a search list and returns to the font before the search was entered.
    If the font name is alphanumeric, it is normal, but if the font name is not alphanumeric, it cannot be searched.

    Original text (Japanese):

    コンテキストタスクバーでフォント名をキーボード入力して検索し、リストアップされるものから選ぶ場合のトラブルです。
    漢字や日本語などで検索をかけると、検索一覧として反映できず、検索入力する前のフォントに戻ります。
    英数字名のフォントであれば正常ですが、英数字名以外のフォント名が検索できない、という状態になっています。

15. [ID-4246352]NIKKUD (accents/diacritics) selection has become invisible

    InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)

    Hebrew letters can use NIKKUD - vocalization diacritical marks (function like Vowels) under/above the letter.

    • In previous versions (-2023) it was possible to select only the NIKKUD (attached image) of the letter. (in order to specify the position of the NIKKUD using the Diacritic Positioning panel or to change color, etc.)
    • In the current version (2024-2025) the selection is on the entire letter, and there is no visual indication whether the letter or the NIKKUD is selected (attached image).

    Note: Sometimes there are two NIKKUD characters and even in such a case in the past it was possible to choose each separately (attached image)

16. [ID-4243320] Incorrect cursor movement in RTL text when Harfbuzz text shaping is used.

    InDesign version: v20 (both Mac & PC)

    In right-to-left languages ​​(Hebrew & Arabic) the cursor movement went crazy:

    We can't work that way

19. Footnotes do not honor "keep" settings

    Title says it all. If a footnote paragraph style contains "keep" settings and split footnotes are enabled, footnotes ignore the keep settings. It should be possible to (a) allow split footnotes, and (b) stipulate that at least two lines must be carried over to the second page, but this is not possible. Keeps are ignored.

    When importing Word files wrong styles are applied:

    1. with no frame selected a style is chosen (p.a. Style-A)
    2. click in a frame, selected Style is different (p.e. Style-B)
    3. Word is imported (formatting removed, local overrides kept) -> Text (even if cursor is within text formatted in Style-B) is formatted in Style-A

    This is bad p.e. when italics is needed as local override, and the wrong style is italics too (then evereything is italcs ...).
