  1. footnotes show up at the bottom of text box rather than bottom of page when "span footnotes" is selected

How do I get footnote #1 in my screenshot to show up with footnotes #2 and #3 at the bottom of the page. For the life of me, I cannot find a setting that makes this possible. Thank you in advance.

  2. Koreans have to press the spacebar twice when using InDesign

When typing Korean in InDesign, you need to press the spacebar twice. If you've ever used InDesign in Korean, you'll find this kind of work is very annoying. This issue did not appear in CS6 and earlier versions of CC. So, for Koreans who use InDesign, the InDesign CC version is a disaster.

This problem cannot be solved by using any option in InDesign, and Koreans are using unverified sub software to solve this problem. And many Koreans are wondering why InDesign is a step backwards from the previous version and doesn't solve even these basic problems.

    It seems it's been…

  3. Column rules generate overlapped lines in PDF

InDesign 16.2 (Windows 10 and macOS Big Sur on M1 have the same behaviour).

I have a text frame with common rules active.
When I export a PDF (print) InDesign creates two overlapping lines in the exported PDF instead of a single line, to create the rule.
If I export a PDF (interactive) from the same document, the line is not doubled and overlapped.

I upload the resulting PDFs made with print and interactive.

In some workflow, like laser engraving, this is a problem.

Can you fix this in some way?
    Thanks

  4. 2021 variable font not printing

InDesign 2021 v 16.0 when I use the Acumin Variable Concept font in any style it doesn't print. I have no errors on the document just blank boxes where the text would be.

  6. Phonetic tie and World-Ready Composer

I'm seeing a behavior that I believe to be a bug. When I have a phonetic spelling with a tie character—for example, d͡ʒ"—using Indesign's paragraph composer, Indesign renders it as three characters—d + [tie] + ʒ. When I change to the world-ready paragraph composer, however, InDesign joins the tie to the character before it such that it can't be moved. I tried using a non-joiner between them, but InDesign just joins the tie to the non-joiner.

  7. Margin Issues When Threading Tables

    InDesign 2021

Background: I'm working with an InDesign Template file that was set up with two pages (not facing) and a lengthy table in a text box.

Issue: Whenever I thread my text box with the table it contains, the table over stretches the margins on only the additional/threaded pages. It remains within the set margins on the original pages, and if you try to adjust the table on the overset pages, it shirks it on the original pages as well.

Why is this? Why is the table changing size (width wise) on only the threaded pages, and how do…

  8. Problem copying font from Acrobat Pro DC PDF (to Word and Indesign)

    [Adobe Indesign 2021 - 16.3 / Suitcase Fusion 21.3.0]

Since the last update, I am unable to copy/paste from a PDF in Acrobat the accented characters of the French dictionary (ô, é, è, ç, à) to Word or Indesign, whatever the font is (Adobe font or personal font).

    The glyph disappear when pasted.

The glyphs exists in the dictionary when looking at the panel in Indesign.

  10. bullet numbering not resetting

To make numbered lists automatically reset between body copy text, I set body copy to be a numbered list without any numbering at level 1.

Numbered lists are level 2. With tick box 'reset numbers at this level after Any Previous Level'

But the numbered list doesn't get reset when there are body copy between.

It only resets if the level 1 paragraph style is actually numbering.

  12. textframe loses focus

Since having my computer upgraded to Catalina (10.15.7), InDesign (both 14.0.2 and 16.1) loses focus when I click off of a text frame. I’ve attached a video made in 16.1.
When I click off a graphic frame, behavior is normal—I can immediately click another element on the page. But when I click off a text frame, note how the Swatches panel disappears and I must click again on the page so InDesign regains focus so that I can then select another element on the page.

  14. Letters 'fl' become invisible

    Adobe CC 16.1 x64

Paragraph style applied to text in text frame:
    [No Paragraph Style] + next: [Same style] + Helvetica Narrow + Oblique +size: 10 pt + left indent: 0.4375 in + first indent: -0.125 - hyphenation + tint: 90% + list: bulleted

When I type "cash flow" the fl both become invisible as soon as I type the 'l'. Does not happen with any other paragraph style. Does not show as being a different style or color or anything. Letters are still there because I can highlight the space they take up.

    How can these become visible?

  15. Apple M1 Mac mini. Big Sur, InDesign CC 2021, tables are SLOW

I've created a 6 column, 355 row table. No fill, default black stroke. I've created this same table, from the same data 100 times on my 2015 imac, running InDesign 2017 thru 2020. High Sierra was the highest MacOS on previous computer
When I copy a word or phrase (100 or fewer characters) and paste it into another cell, it is showing the thinking beachball for 15 seconds. I'm simply double clicking on 5 characters to copy, then clicking into another table cell to paste the word. Everything that I had previously completed using tables in previous versions was quick.…

  16. The Same Adobe Font is Considered Different for Different Users

    InDesign Version: 16.2.1

Steps to reproduce issue: Open an InDesign file, set font to "Montserrat" (the Adobe Font version), save. Another person opens up the file. Instead of displaying "Montserrat", the font shows as "Montserrat (OTF)" in the font menu and all the text is highlighted red because that "font" isn't activated. If that person changes the font to "Montserrat" on their computer and saves the file, the same issue happens on my end. It's essentially treating both of our Montserrat fonts as different fonts, even though we're both using Adobe Fonts.

Expected result: Montserrat will display properly when either…

  19. Cross references rendered to big/wrong line break

Text with cross references isn't rendered correctly. The line break is triggered far to early (see IDML and PNG) image.

The line break works with the Adobe World-Ready Composers but not with the Classic Composers.

I cannot use the World-Ready Composers because of the justified nonbreaking space see https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/41793187-bug-since-cs6-nonbreaking-space-s-issue-wit

A test IDML file can be downloade here: https://cloud.publishingx.de/s/mMMkbxidwTiTfKR

    Please fix both bugs!

  20. Hebrew Vowel Points Incorrectly Positioned

When keying (or importing) Hebrew text, InDesign often misplaces vowel points when two or more vowel points are attached to a single base character unless the base character and vowel points are keyed in a specific order. I don't totally understand it, but it has something to do with Unicode normalization. Microsoft Word gets around this problem, but I can't say how. It would be nice, however, if InDesign could get around it, too.

One Hebrew font, SBL Hebrew, has written Unicode features (?) to prevent the normalization problem, but most fonts cannot do this on their own in InDesign.…
