  1. Layer visibility toggle should indicate mixed visibility status of sub layers

InDesign V 16.4, Current Creative Cloud as of 2021-11-14.
Currently - The top Layer visibility icon (within the layers palette) does not indicate a mixed visibility status of sub layers.
I have a rather complex layer set in a document I'm working on where I have master pages with master pages based on other master pages and linked objects within the document.
I just spent over an hour trying to locate a hidden object. I incorrectly assumed that, when looking at the layers palette, with all the layer stacks closed (layer list contracted where only the top level was shown)…

  4. Image date merge

Since InDesign 16.4 the image data merge won't work. The images are not displayed on the screen and not in 'links'.
After merging there are also no pictures.

  5. Premier Pro style file linking

I recently had the joy of relinking a project I was working on in Premier Pro. Right click, "Link Media...", the gui opens, I click "locate", hit "search" and hey presto! The experience is blissful.

Please do this everywhere! Especially in InPhosTrator.

  6. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Placed SVG InDesign ignores code dominant-baseline="hanging"

It seems that the SVG import filter ignores code:
    dominant-baseline="hanging"
when rendering text in the placed SVG graphic.

For full details see the following discussion at the Adobe InDesign Forum:

  7. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Document fonts folder does not work with fonts for placed SVGs

Provide a font file with the Document fonts folder for a placed SVG graphic where the font is not embedded.
RESULT: InDesign will not use the font for rendering text with the placed SVG graphic.

ALSO: Even if the font is installed for ALL USERS in the system on Windows 10 InDesign will not package the font that is needed with the placed SVG graphic.

One cannot be sure what fonts are needed with placed SVG graphics. When InDesign documents are saved, closed and re-opened, Preflight and Type > Find Fonts… will not show them.

    The only check you can…

  8. [INDD 2020 and 2021] Missing font in placed SVG is not detected by Preflight or Type > Find Fonts…

    [ 2020 ][ 2021 ] A missing font in a placed SVG does not show

If you open a document with a placed SVG where a font is not embedded the missing font does not show with:
    [1] Type > Find Fonts…
    [2] Preflight

If you export that InDesign document to IDML and open the IDML file with InDesign the missing font is showing as missing in Preflight and Type > Find Fonts… .
As soon as you save the IDML as InDesign document, close and open it again, the missing font is not detected again. Neither with Preflight nore…

  12. InDesign 16.3.2 on Mac: with GPU, won't render images in frames with a fill applied

    InDesign 2021 16.3.2
    macOS Mojave 10.14.6 (18G9323)
    MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
    MacBookPro10,1
    Intel Core i7, 2.7 GHz
    16 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000 (1536 MB VRAM)
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (1 GB VRAM)

With "GPU Performance" enabled (or with "GPU Preview" on) images will not render if the containing frame has a fill applied. Note: InDesign reports that a compatible GPU and monitor are detected. Also, it doesn't matter whether "Animated zoom" is enabled or not. See screenshots 1–3.

With GPU Preview disabled (or with CPU Preview on) the images render correctly. See screenshots 4–5.

  13. bug: start/end line not clickable in Indesign

Indesign 16.3.2, Apple Silicon M1 chip, MacBook Pro macOS Big Sur 11.5

I've discovered a bug. When I try to click on the option to add a start or end to a line, the option disappears directly. So it's not possible to click on one of the options. Right now I can't add a arrow to the end of my line. I hope it will be fixed really soon!

  15. Edge smoothing in Indesign 16.3.2 creates lines where there should be none!

Something that is extremely annoying and obstructive when designing. This was once different and better!

No matter if e.g. black or dark frames with white "narrow - narrow" outline or areas that cover others, hairlines appear everywhere where there shouldn't be any.

I don't know with which update this has crept in. But it nevt infinitely and it was no improvement.

The only way to get rid of these lines is to disable edge smoothing completely. But then you have a pixelated view with the charm of the 80s. So this is not an alternative either!

  18. Weird Bug with Resize to Frame

Resize frame to content messes up and I'm not sure if it's something to do with a setting I have set since this doesn't always happen.

Basically, I'll have a frame around some content with text in it.

When I hit "resize frame to content" ctrl-alt-c, it resizes the frame to the full document width, which looks like the example.

I obviously expect the frame to resize to the content, not to be super wide like the entire document.

  19. Drag-Duplicating using Alt/Opt key does not work if key is pressed after dragging

I am working on Mac OS Big Sur v 11.3.1 using Indesign CS 2020 16.2.1.
I cannot duplicate images using the command option shift key.
I have also noticed that holding the shift key down to proportionately size images is also not working. Could you advise if this issue can be solved? I have read the thread posted in 2020 and it said it was under review. I tried the workaround suggested changing live Screen drawing to "never" but this has not changed anything. Please help! Thanks.

  20. Linked PDF images not exporting to PDF correctly

    InDesign (16.2.1), Windows 10

Logos saved as PDFs and placed in an InDesign file appear with a gray vertical line on the right side of the image frame when the file is converted to PDF. There is no stroke or fill on the image frame; further, I checked a PDF with the same PDF logo in it that I created a month ago and it did not have the line. The line appears when the PDF is printed.

We found that reverting back to v16.1 resolved the issue. Also, relinking a JPG or TIF of the logo worked in 16.2.1,…
