Open PDF
I want the ability to open an Adobe PDF in Adobe InDesign. The ability to have a pdf file that I can right click and go to Open With -> Adobe InDesign would save so much time at my job in the print industry. It takes forever to take 1,500 pages of a PDF document and individually place them in an InDesign file just so I can use a master page to overlay a bad logo that a client used. Export from Pages Panel
The Pages panel — with pages selected — has a "print spreads/print pages" option in the contextual menu.
An option to export the selected spreads/pages to PDF would be useful, especially if it could be done seamlessly, without need for the Export Adobe PDF dialog.
Alternatively, the CMD-E shortcut with pages/spreads selected in the pages panel should bring up the Export Adobe PDF dialog with the selected page range already entered.
This would be especially useful when exporting contiguous pages!

The dreaded Data Merge "There is at least one data placeholder that cannot be found" error
when using Data Merge, so many of us have gotten the "There is at least one data placeholder that cannot be found in the data source. Make sure all the placeholders correspond to the fields in the data source." error and have spent way too much time trying to find the issue.
Can Adobe add a way to highlight what InDesign is objecting to when this message happens?
This morning, I gave up and inserted the text manually. There were only 4 elements on each of my 5 Master pages and I could not find the offending object.13 votes -
Document Time Tracking
This idea has already been posted, but it's from 2018 so I would like to post it again:
Document Time Tracking would be a feature to see the dates / time spent on a document. It could be accessed in the documents info panel. This feature would be useful for client invoicing and project managing especially in advertising where time is money.

Duplicating pages in InDesign - but not at the end of a document
When duplicating pages in Indesign they always appear at the end of the document. We should be able to select where in the document we want the pages to be added, as we do when inserting new pages.

Add the option to create continuous/smooth curves when rounding corners.
A smooth or continuous curve makes a more smooth transition when rounding the corners of squares or rectangles, so the result is more like a squircle. This eliminates the "bump" where the straight line hits the corner and is more pleasing to the eyes. Sketch has this option when rounding corners and it would be fantastic to have it in InDesign.

Importer une même image dans plusieurs blocs, en une seule fois
J'ai plusieurs blocs, sur la même page, et je souhaite y importer (si les blocs sont vierges) ou remplacer (si les blocs ont déjà un visuel), en une seule fois, la même image.
Actuellement, je dois sélectionner un à un les blocs, ou un à un l'image à remplacer. C'est long !

Exporter/Importer son espace de travail personnalisé
Dans Photoshop/Illustrator, nous pouvons exporter/importer notre espace de travail et pas dans InDesign. Dommage car avec une mise à jour comme celle de 2021, je passe plus d'une heure à réinstaller tout mon espace.

Importing Formulated Excel Cells to InDesign
When importing formulated cells with defined name from excel to InDesign, cell defined name does not appear in the dropdown.
PLEASE find a way to allow formulated cells to have a defined name and imported into InDesign

Add a 'none' option to the Buttons and Forms > 'Type' drop down selector.
In cases where blocks show as text Form fields that one wants to remove the Form function from them - the process now seems to require deleting and re-creating all of the affected elements.
With a 'none' option, they can all be selected and simply changed from being a text Form field, to a simple object.

Anchored object - Contorna con testo
Object inserted in the text surrounds the first line of the paragraph with the inline or above line option but does not work on the first line of text with the custom option. Activate the surround with text even with the latter option. Thank you

footnote/endnote styles
Ability to define footnote/endnote styles (as opposed to the formatting styles contained within the the footnote/endnote definition) and synchronize these across the book documents. Would save a lot of time in books with many documents.

Inadvertently dragging image frame contents instead of moving frame.
I am frequently inadvertently dragging the contents of an image frame (photograph) out of the frame, instead of moving the frame itself. This is even while the Select Tool is chosen.
It seems to matter whether the frame was previously selected and where in the frame you click/drag.
I would like this to only be possible with the Direct Selection Tool.
Or at least, an option that can turn off this frustrating 'feature'.2 votes -
Search Adobe Fonts
Next to the search bar for Adobe Stock would be a nice place to search for fonts as well. Just my opinion.

In the Arrange option, may we please go back and forth from a multiple to one and back again without having to close one of the windows?
Last year I could switch views in "Arrange" from 2 docs to one, back and forth. Now, I have to close one to get full screen with the second and reopen if I want to see them both side by side. Can you please switch back to the old method? This is a time-waster and frustrating, as it used to be in place. Thank you.

Save to Server vs cloud option
We save all of our files on a shared work server and keep track of versions and final files all on a shared server not through the cloud which also allows all non-adobe ID users to review files as well. We would like to be able to use the share function as we already use it in Acrobat but would love to select where the review file is stored.

Multiple strokes like Illustrator has
InDesign should have the ability to have more than one stroke on an object the way that Illustrator does. I've wanted this multiple times and now it's come up again with a design that uses a filled frame behind a headline and also a stroke inside the bounding box of the filled frame. To make this design efficient in production, the ideal is for this to be one object with the type in the center, the stroke a controlled distance away and another stroke that is the same color as the fill outside the first stroke. Trackpad zoom windows
Seems really backwards that I cannot zoom in with my trackpad on windows. I mean, it works flawlessly in even Microsoft Edge. Just seems like something that was flat out forgotten.

scalable page dimension markers
Currently I am designing large wall pieces that require me to produce the pages at 50% or even 10% of scale and I need to put dimension info for export, for final approval. Currently there is no way to tell indesign that the scale is not 100%, so I have to make the markers by hand. Can you make an export feature that allows the user to define scale?

Password Protection in the new Review panel
Include a password protection field in the new review tab. Allow it to be toggled on and off. When a review is sent, and a password is created, send the password in the same email as the review link.
