  1. Spellchecking and hyphenation anno 2019

The current spell checker is helpful, but also limited. The error detection rate is too low. Hyphenation error also occurs too often. (Both esp. in german language.) Artificial intelligence that maps the complete official dictionaries and spelling rules of each language should be added to the agenda and implemented. User dictionaries should only record WORDSAMENTS that contain words that are not in the official dictionary. Word forms and compound words should be derived from the rules.

  2. Move "missing links" prompt to before PDF export dialogue.

Please move the "missing fonts" or "missing links" prompts to BEFORE the PDF naming and features preferences. I makes me nuts when navigate to where I'm dropping the final export, then name it, only to have an alert pop up telling me I'm missing something. I should be told that IMMEDIATELY.

  3. Colorsettings in New Document dialog box

I would love to have the ability to choose my color settings (ICC profile, conversionsettings, etcetera) from within the new document dialog box. When I create a new document I would like to be able to define the colorsettings. Especially the color profile and rendering intent.

  6. Application In Use indicator

I bounce between InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop continuously and often realize after trying something that I'm in Illustrator, not InDesign. If there were a subtle unobtrusive way to indicate this, so it 'feels' like Illustrator that would be nice. I don't mean overboard, like Microsoft's Word blue, Excel's green. Something I can change until I find something I like. An indicator in the toolbar? Does this exist already and I don't know?

  7. Customizing Export Options for Images

If an epub is exported with the “Use Existing Image for Graphic Object” option selected, crop information is not maintained on any of the exported images. If you select "Preserve Appearance from Layout", the crop is maintained, but the images are downsampled quite extensively.

There should be a way to export the images in their original resolution while also preserving the crop information, or at least having more customizable image export settings.

  8. Add a new menu item to the menu bar: Indexes

Ideally, indexing should have a menu all its own. The fact that it's only got a panel that opens from the Windows menu suggests it's an afterthought, and it's very limiting, because it means I can't create my own keyboard shortcuts for indexing functions.

  9. Ability to change default settings for new index entries

I use the I use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Alt-Shift-[ to add new index entries. But it defaults to "current page" and I don't want that because my document will be converted to ePub, and e-books don't have fixed pages. I want the default to be "next # of paragraphs: 1."

The ability to change the default settings for new index entries would solve my problem.

  10. Problème Table des matières sous InDesign CC 2019

    Bonjour.
Sous InDesign CC 2019 il y a un problème pour générer un table des matières avec du texte placé dans un tableau. Cela fonctionnait dans les versions précédentes.
    Voir fichier exemple ci joint.

  11. We want a "Flush Return" character like "Flush Space".

The gap between questions is not equal. Automatic vertical blocking character can be added.
We want a "Flush Return" character like "Flush Space".
Page design production will be faster and smoother.

  15. Add "no hyphenation" as a character style.

"No Break" does not mean the same as "No Hyphenation".
If you have a long sentence and not only one word that should not be hyphenated, adding "no break" style is no help. You must exclude all the spaces in the sentence to make the sentence break.
A new character style "no hyphenation" would do this automatically.

  16. horizontal alignment of text inside of text frame

Previously InDesign had HORIZONTAL alignment of text inside the text frame. You could align text at the top, bottom and centre of the text frame. It was one of the best features of InDesign, and it seems to be stripped off. :(
Unless it's still there somewhere, thoroughly hidden away. But why?!

  17. Rework Grid: Set Grid opacity, Add Grid to Document setting in stead of Preferences

Grids are very usefull. But when those are In Front, it would be convenient if the opacity could be reduced. 100% opaque makes it hard to make design decisions when the grid is active.

An old (Xpress legacy?) irregularity, is that Grid settings are part of Preferences, while these should be part of Document Setup.

Grids belong to a document, not the application.

  19. Save All and Close All

Add a 'Save All' and 'Close All' to the File menu. Photoshop and other Adobe software have had this since the '90s, so why doesn't InDesign? It's inefficient to click on dozens of documents one at a time in order to save them and/or save and close them. Please emulate Photoshop as the ideal example.

  20. Lock Pages - Lock Pages to prevent changes when specific page design has been finalized

I'm working on a 55 page Yearbook and I'm now working on a page per page basis; I complete one page and move on. Some of the pages I know FOR SURE that they are done; I would love to be able to lock them to prevent further changes. They would not be altered by master page changes or anything else; just locked and ready to go.
