  1. MAKE PACKAGE FEATURE USE ORIGINAL LOCATION AS ITS ROOT.

I would like the PACKAGE feature to default to the ORIGINAL location of the file. Rather than having to hunt around when I chose PACKAGE. I have many projects to package, and often when i choose PACKAGE FILES it will default to some previously-referenced folder—often completely different folder/location. Its a nuisance. Causes issues.

  2. Visual indicator RGB print document - large format inkjet printing AND easier creation of RGB doc

Making it easier to have an RGB file for printing to a large format inkjet?
(only saying inkjet made me think of a consumer product).

Current option for creating a document is for presswork --
Have to change the transparency blend space to RGB to take advantage of the larger color space available with the extra inks there.

    MAYBE
The top bar that is above the document frame (has the home button in the corner) Can that be a different color to indicate if you are in a CMYK or RGB blend space?

You already know the color issues if…

  3. Print Layout Stacking (as it is in CorelDRAW)

Imposition control from the Print dialog box (as it is in CorelDRAW) would be a massive time saver for those of us in print shops. I am an Adobe user in a Corel shop and I've been (slowly) working on converting them to Adobe, but this is one feature that keeps the owner going back to Corel for most everything he designs, simply because of the imposition features.

I'm sure everyone would be happy with this feature.

  6. Remove "Publication must be saved before continuing" workflow requirement.

The requirement to save a file before creating a package is cumbersome. Often, I am saving a package to a new location to use as a starting point for a new project, or a creating a new separate version. Saving it requires potential alterations to be saved in the original file. Even without modifying the file, updated links or fonts might saved or broken.

One can Save As first, as a workaround, but this is the cumbersome second step. Creating a package from any open file without first saving it should be possible.

  7. Background Packaging

It would be amazing if when you are packaging a document, the packaging would go on in the background (like when you export as a PDF) so that I can continue to work on other things while something is being packaged. Sometimes packaging takes 5+ minutes and I feel like I have wasted time when I could be working on something else while it packages in the background.

    Just an idea!

  9. PDF of thumbnails from Print Dialog box

I'd like to send a PDF of my 3x3 thumbnails for a client instead of printing out or sending a PDF of individual digital ads. My print dialog box says Not Supported when I try to create a PDFs.

Seems like a simple fix. Anyone else?

  10. Zip Fonts When Packaging

It would be great if there was an option to have fonts collected in a zip file when packaging a document. Fonts are often corrupted when transferred via the cloud, or FTP, and need to be zipped to maintain their integrity. It would be time saving if InDesign could do this automatically.

  11. Increase offset marks higher than 25,4 mm.

I'm creating prints for many kinds of POS materials, where bleeds are often around 100 mm and more, and I need offset to be same as bleeds.
    Same with Illustrator.
    Thank you!

  12. Give one-sided versus two-sided option in print dialog box

Most software allows me to select one-sided versus two-sided printing in the print dialog box. Indesign requires that I go into the printer setup to make that change.

  13. Print dialog reverts to 1 copy

    1. I wish the print dialog box defaulted back to 1 copy like all other software programs that I am familiar with.

    2. As a teacher I am updating student printouts every semester. When I am ready to proof read my changes, I hit Cmd+P and walk over to the printer to find 87 copies sitting there waiting to be proofed, because I had printed 87 finished copies the previous semester. Yes, I am aware of this quirk of InDesign, but hitting Cmd+P followed by return is muscle memory. I know I have wasted several reams of paper over the years.

  15. Please add proper standard printing condition(s) and icc-profiles

Adobe, please change the standard color presets for printing to the proper standard printing conditions and profiles that are published by the European Color Initaitive ECI (eci.org.). The icc-profiles are publically available.
Actually, Adobe still uses outdated FOGRA39 characterization data by default, second Adobe applies FOGRA39 in an own icc-profile that differs from the standard-profile by the ECI.
FOGRA39 is outdated, it's been replaced by FOGRA51 since years, for good reason. ECI has published the corresponding standard ICC-profile "PSO coated v3", which should find it's way into Adobe's color settings. Please integrate the official ECI-profiles, because these are highly optimized…

  16. Disable external plugins from earlier versions when packaging files

I find that some files created with cs5.5/cs6 use external plugins that get embedded in CC 2019 and then cause them to crash when opened on another system without those plugins. Is there any way to disable the plugins at the package stage? That would ideal.

  17. Consolidate shared links when packaging a book

It would be great when packaging a book to consolidate links that are shared between documents to a "Shared Links" folder.

As currently if you have 5 chapter document which all have the same link placed in them - then this link will be duplicated 5 times when it is unnecessary and also creates problems when updating links later on

  18. customer collect fonts

Have InDesign be able to open a collect and fonts even if the collect is renamed or moved so that the font/link won't get broken

  19. Layout-Options for "Cross-fold"-Brochures.

When designing "Cross-fold"-Brochures, it would be helpful if it would be possible to arrange the pages in the pages-palet. Currently it's only possible to arrange them in a row, even if the pages on the pasteboard are arranged as they will be printed.

  20. Stop appending the word "folder" to all package folder names

I really really really hate that I have to waste 8 keystrokes (yes, I count the down-arrow to get to the end of the package name) on every single package I make. At least give me the option to change the default suffix.
