Scrubby Sliders for Everything Like Photoshop
In Photoshop, every scalable feature (opacity, text size, feather radius, etc) is a slider if you click and drag on the name of the adjustment. This is particularly useful for (large) font size. In Photoshop, you can live preview your text size by sliding, while InDesign you have to either arrow key or type numbers to preview. At the very least, make the font size drop down go above 72 pt like Figma!

Open Current File Location
It would be amazing if you add Open Current File Location under the "File" dropdown.
It is a really minor thing, but it would significantly impact productivity.

Proper Full Screen Support for MacOS
It really would be helpful if the Adobe CC apps (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop et al) all did as Acrobat Pro DC does and properly implemented the MacOS full screen/split screen option.
This would allow people who use multiple and large monitors to properly designate workspace and split screens between two apps without toolbars/panels getting hidden by other apps.

Working with multiple files - When a file is closed, rather than skipping to the last file, got to the next file in order
Description:
I have multiple files open at once.
When finished working on the first, if I close it, InDesign will skip to the last file that was opened, rather the next file in the order.
See attached - I closed “untitled 1” and it skipped to “untitled 5” rather than going to “untitled 2” which is next in line.
Why this would be valuable:
This interrupts an expected workflow to InDesign's usual left to right UI direction.
InDesign allows users to reorder the file tabs to suit their needs. Skipping to the end file in unexpected behaviour and switching back…

Add HiDPI scaling for InDesign Mac OS
Please add scaling for UI and Tools for Mac version. I'm using an external 4K display so OS X system display scaling doesn't work as it does for Retina displays.. UI scaling in Illustrator works perfectly for me on my Mac, having this in InDesign would really be appreciated.

Make Indesign UI bigger
People have been complaining for years about Indesign's hard to see UI and the inability to make adequate changes. Why is it 2020, and this issue is still unresolved? I shouldn't have to change my Windows UI to make it better, which by the way it doesn't. Attached pic of my display at the recommend UI setting of 250% on a 15 inch screen.

Add the ability to remove or change the position of the 'home' button in the top left
It would be helpful to be able to move this button as it's so close to 'file' - accidental clicks of it can be irritating. I realize you can use Alt > F to open File, but often a click is easier.

Please reinstate this feature: Cmd-H to hide program with no open documents
In InDesign, you can’t hide the program with Cmd-H when no documents are open any more.
It’s a feature I use a lot, and has suddenly stopped working. As far as I know it has been there since the beginning.
Why on earth someone thought it was a good idea to remove this is beyond me.3 votes -

Enable more functions in right click
I wish right click would bring up more options - for example, right clicking a linked file should give me the option to 'reveal in finder' but I have to open the links pallets to get that. It would improve my workflow no end.

Locking Tab Bar
It would be really helpful if the user had the ability to lock the tabs bar under the rulers in inDesign. It's an annoyance to have it floating and having to re-open it constantly. It would be nice to have the tabs panel located right underneath the ruler and then give the option to hide it or show it.

save the set of all open files
If you live in an environment where you have to shut down InDesign and start it up again, such as a corporate "day job" or if you want to backup your files at night:
Offer an option to reopen all of the file tabs that you had open when you last quit.
I often have a set of four files open, two of which are open in two windows/tabs., for a total of six windows/tabs. It would be nice to be able to start up InDesign and have it automatically reopen all those files, basically getting back to where I…3 votes -
Add "Reveal in Explorer" option in Windows version
Why isn't this feature available on the Windows version of InDesign? It's always been there on the Mac version. When right-clicking on an open document's tab, there should be an option at the bottom that allows revealing the current document in Explorer.
This feature is even available in Photoshop for both versions as well! It should have been added for feature parity long ago and it's a useful feature to have.3 votes -

Please add Chinese language support. A global economy pleads for this.
I need to create bi-lingual content in English and Chinese. The current English language interface does not support this, (though the program could be downloaded with a Chinese language user interface in the Asian region.)
With the global economy we have, the ability for English speaking users to create bi-lingual content with Chinese or Japanese characters is needed.
Such ability is a basic function of most of the software I run.
Adobe is behind the times in this regard.
We look forward to this being addressed in the next update.

I want "Turn Off Tooltips" back
I hate it that every time I update InDesign, I have to see all these hover boxes that want to walk me through what's new in this version. This always happens when I'm in a hurry and I just want to do something without having to wait for the Clippy-like helper box to dismiss itself. If I want to know what's new in the current version, I know I can find that information. These 'helper' tips are annoying beyond belief.

When relinking files, prefer to show entire filename instead of path
When relinking files a dialogue oops up where the relinked file is selected. At the top of the dialogue the path to the file is shown. If there isn't enough space for the entire path, including filename, it is condensed by removing some text in the middle. If there is enough room to show the entire filename that should be shown. The path to the file is not as important as the name of the file, especially when relinking multiple files which are often in the same folder and I am already looking in that folder.

User defined Indesign Preview Page
When starting Indesign, you get shown a lightbox of recent files with a preview image. It would be great to be able to user define one page in your document to be the preview image, as sometimes, the first page is not the best to be used to make the difference.
In my screen capture image, selecting page 3 as the preview image would be more distinguishable.

User Interface flexibility
I would like to see the ability to choose the older interface layout with the menus placed on the top vs the side. With each new design, it is a learning experience in finding the tools necessary to do the tasks needed.
