Parent pages
Description:
I would like to be able to automatically select a replacement parent page as I am deleting an existing parent page. I imagine this could work just like it does when you delete a Paragraph style (see screen shot).
Why is this Valuable:
I frequently use the Alternate Layout function, and when InDesign creates the Alternate Layout it creates new parent pages for that alternate layout (Alternate Parent Pages-Automatic). However, there are a few consistent additional changes that need to be made within the new alternate layout document pages that cannot be done via the Liquid Layout feature. So, I have created parent pages for my alternate layouts (Alternate Parent Pages-Personalized) that include these changes.
Currently the only way to apply my saved alternate layout parent pages is to manually select and apply the correct Alternate Parent Page-Personalized to the individual document pages. Once I have completed this task, then I delete all of the Alternate Parent Pages-Automated in the document.
Because of my particular workflow, I often have to recreate the Alternate Layout multiple times during a single project, and this reapplying parent page process is very inefficient. It would save significant time and effort if the Delete Parent Page function worked like the Delete Paragraph/Character Style function, and allowed me to automatically apply the specific Alternate Parent Page-Personalized as part of the Delete Parent Page function.
