InDesign Preview For Finder
There really should be an InDesign preview for Mac Finder. This should be a requirement for your software and should not be considered a feature request.
Preview of InDesign documents in Mac Finder and Windows Explorer is available in InDesign version 2023.

Agreed. Basic functionality that has been included for many years in other programs, why not Adobe? Affinity has done this quite well and makes a great case for switching.

This would be a huge benefit to me as I need to quickly compare PSD and INDD Files multiple times a day. I have no idea what a INDD file is without opening it and refuse to pay some 3rd party for the ability to do this. This should have been implemented a long time ago. Adobe really needs to focus some time on insuring their CC suite is consistent across all apps with features like this.

It would help when browsing through a lot of indd files without having to open them until we find the right one.

+1 For Markzware's IDUtils, it's very handy
Also, previews, as they're currently implemented, are a bit limited considering that they are not always updated https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/35249686--preview-images-not-updated-or-created-in-certain

I just started using the Markzware ID Util program which seems to work really well. Thanks Colin!

Using High Sierra on MBP early 2011.
Really would like thumbnail previews for Indesign. You give the option in prefs, but to no avail. What's the problem? Other Adobe products have them.

I use the App »Art View 2« - not only InDesign gets a Finder Preview, also Illustrator. Not the cheapest, but I am happy with it.

You should be able to see a preview/thumbnail of the first page of an INDD file from the Finder with the space bar and Apple's Preview app, just like you can with PDFs, JPGs, even Word docs (partially). Agree, this should have happened a LONG time ago and you shouldn't have to buy an add-on product or use Bridge (which I don't use) to accomplish this.

In the meantime, for those of us who can't stand using Bridge, Quick Look can be enabled for InDesign previews by Jenny Hofer's inddPreview (US$3.99).

@Jongware: InDesign has an option to save preview *images* with documents. That makes it possible to see those images in InDesign even when the actual links are missing. As I recall that works fine. If it's that setting, that you think of, it has nothing to do with previewing documents in the operating system or in Adobe's own software. Is there another setting?
I can't see a great purpose previewing InDesign documents in the file system – isn't that what bridge is for?

Adobe Bridge can preview indesign files and you can open all the linked files inside the indesign file which is good feature.

At the *very* least do so with files that are saved *with* previews. Apart from Bridge, I cannot recall if any other Adobe software use them – not even InDesign itself!
