Password protect "publish online" documents.
Password protecting "publish online" EPUB documents would be extremely valuable for my work. A lot of my files contain sensitve information that need to remain with the business.

For the love of god, please improve EPUB export to ensure that the exported file actually lives up to market standards and can validate EpubCheck and ACE without problems or extra reworking. As is, the current exported EPUB files risk failing checks before distribution and, as a result, cannot be sold on the European market after the accessibility directive takes effect. This will be a huge problem for many graphic designers who cater to this market.

epub new law june 2025
In the EU as per 28 June 2025, ebooks have to meet certain standards, for the handicapped. Will Indesign provide these features? See attached pdf for requirements.

animate within a bounding box
with all of the animate options, grow, rotate, etc., it would be great if these could be applied to the image within a bounding box. Meaning the bounding box does not animate, but the image inside can grow, turn, etc.

Document info in Indesign hyperlinks
I am implementing a sort of voting system for articles in a magazine (readers can vote wether or not they like an article). This means I have to implement 3 (more if I want a more detailed system) links per article. It would be handy to be able to use document info in the links so I can use this as parameters. Things like "Filename" "Pagenumber" "Section name" would really make this process a lot easier. Describing the purpose of a link in EPUBs using aria-label
Description
It would be really great if hyperlinks would get an (optional) attribute to describe their purpose, and this being reported in EPUB outputs as values of aria-label attributes.

Something similar is already in place for alt-text ("Edit Hyperlink..." -> "Accessibility" -> "Alt-Text") which I understand plays a role in PDF outputs.

Footnote numbering for Persian and Arabic ePubs
It is a significant undertaking when one needs to convert an Arabic/Persian (RTL languages) book into an ePUB. In addition, the software capabilities diminish as the number of readers decreases. The InDesign Development Team has done a decent job making the InDesign 2022, version 17.3 (Eng/AR), work well. However, there is still a lot to accomplish in non-native languages to be processed.

Allow more customization in Export Tagging
I love that InDesign can convert my paragraph/character styles into CSS for me when exporting to epub or xml. But it would be really handy if I could customize what CSS gets exported.
For example, I might have a "ChapterNumber" style and a "ChapterTitle" style in an 8.5x11 book. In InDesign I might set ChapterNumber to have a space below of 1 inch. This looks great in an 8.5x11 print book, but when the book is converted to an epub, the spacing gets converted from "1 inch" to a very high margin spacing in the CSS. Consequently I have to…

Display of footnote in epub
Footnotes always appear in Indesign for design purpose, but when we export it to .epub, there should be an option to hide the footnote and it should appear only when the reference number is clicked.

Thin space export to ePub
Thin/hair/em/en spaces are not exporting to ePub.

Date feature for interactive pdf
Currently I dont think there is an option to insert a 'date' feature - could this be added in future updates. As of now, it is only possible using Adobe Acrobat - create forms.

設定で、相対パスも選べるようにして欲しい。
WEBサイト制作時のように、
同じような作品をいくつも作る際に、
作品毎のフォルダ環境を同じ状態にしておけば、
リンク更新せずに画像、テキストを自動的に
拾ってくれるようになり、とても便利だと思う。

Please fix the tab export issue in EPUB format! We're paying for a program that promises print AND flowable epubs but getting only half.
I'm incredibly unhappy about paying so much money out of pocket for a program that does only half of what it promises. It promises print and ebook exports. Print works fine. Epub does not export tabs, indents, or line spacing. I've had your techs work on the program with a program file of mine after I showed them my work flow, and they took two weeks and couldn't do it. Export correct unicode spaces to epub/html
Logging this as a new feature, but it could also be a bug? Also logging this under "EPUB" since thats most important to me, but it also affects "HTML"
Currently the only space characters exported by InDesign are the regular space and the non breaking space. All others are converted to regular spaces on export. These spaces should be retained in the epub, since they are supported by reading systems and in many cases it is typographically incorrect to use regular spaces.
Spaces with direct Unicode mappings:
Normal Space U+0020
Nonbreaking Space U+00A0Em Space U+2003

Accessibility isn't anything new and when working in and on any creative industry product or campaign it should be considered from the off.
I've received a Published Online PDF from a director who's sent a 27-page document that I need to read but as a dyslexic, I rely on using the 'speech' accessibility function built into my mac to allow myself to read this at a fast pace to keep on track with work and my colleges.
You Publishing Online PDF documents don't allow the functionality for this to happen as you can't highlight the text within the document, a basic function on the most text on a computer and online. I think this should be looked at and I'm a little surprised…

Remember choice of fixed/reflowable epub
When creating an epub, I shouldn't have to select between Fixed and Reflowable in the save dialogue each time. It should remember my choice for the document. And ideally this selection should be in the Epub info page rather than the save dialogue.

Adding interactivity for Windows 10
Interactivity is not yet available for Digital Publishing on Windows 10 OS. Until it does, it would be great if inDesign had a panel where you could write code to create hyperlink and button navigation.
