  1. Make possible search-for-tags in Story Editor

I need to search for tags in Story Editor, or in any manner besides the Structure panel, to remove conditions that are arbitrarily applied by InDesign (when a word has a condition applied).

  2. Rename placed images (Bulk)

Be able to rename already placed images in InDesign as a bulk, something similar to Adobe Bridge Batch Rename, the issue with Bridge will be I will have to place each image at a time in InDesign if I used Bridge to rename my images.

  3. Access CC Library Assets via Script

The ability to access assets from a classic ID library and place them on the artboard via script works great. It would be even better if these functionalities are also possible with CC libraries. This move would push more developers to the cloud environment of Adobe in my opinion.

Currently there are some cloud-related methods like 'placeCloudAsset' and 'setCloudLibraryCollection' listed inside the ID-DOM but these seem to be for internal use only.

  4. Data Merge - display # of records per row based on CSV values

Data Merge - When displaying records on a page, show records per row of data based on that row's column quantity value. For example, I have 100 records across 100 rows of data, and 1 record needs to be printed twice, another 3 times, another just once. Instead of the current workaround of having to create multiple rows for each record based on their desired quantity, I'd want one row per record and have one column called X (qty) to tell ID how many times to display that record.

  5. Adobe Indesign Imposition feature for printing

Could and or does InDesign have an Imposition feature for printing multiple pages on one sheet of A4 / A3 paper?

  6. Option to select default editor for scripts.

After update to MacOs Catalina the command to "Edit Script" from the flyout menu does nothing when in an Indesign version prior to CC 2020. This is because ExtendScript Toolkit no longer runs as it is a 32 bit application.

In Indesign 2020 the command opens Visual Studio Code.

However, I prefer using another application for editing scripts.

So my feature request is simply:
We need options to select which application Indesign opens for editing scripts.
Maybe even one for applescripts, one for javascripts and one for vb scripts.

Or at least rely on the system’s default application for the…

  8. Maintain Scripts when updating

My Adobe Indesign was recently updated to a newer version. Every time this happens I lose the scripts that were installed to make the program more productive. It would be great if you could update to a newer version of InDesign and not have to reinstall your scripts every time you update the program.

When you update Indesign it can remember your preferences. Why can't it remember your scripts as well.

  9. Import a multipage PDF into existing graphic frames

I need to be able to set up a document with graphic frames, then import a multipage PDF using a script which places each page into each frame. When the script encounters a page not containing a frame, it will miss it out and place into the next available frame.

  10. iXBRL tagging - annual reports - ESEF reporting

New regulations in Europe means that from 2020 all financial reports must be produced with XBRL tagging. InDesign is the single most used layout software for producing annual reports, but will be useless for the purpose without a solution for tagging.

Are you working on a solution to this considerable challenge?

  11. A search and replace that is a series of search and replaces

Often users need to run a series of search and replaces on a document. Why not create an S&R that runs a series of S&Rs in a user-defined order. It'd be great for cleaning up text. Also, allow users to decide if each S&R is run as "replace all" or with the user deciding each replace.

In addition, allow S&Rs to be run automatically when text documents (typically from Word) are placed. Choosing that would be one option in the Place window.

  12. Add a H&J violation property to InDesign Script

It would be nice to be able to read the amount of H&J violation on a given line through the InDesign script.

This would let us work on better ways to trim the text.

  13. Script to help extract Black and white masks from color separation to photoshop smart objects for 3d

to make 3d from my indesign product packaging i use blender or c4d
and use the script "layer to smart objects" and it's very great script but, when you have complexe printing process applied to the product, it will help to make Black and white masks from colors (cmyk and pantones) separation to help isolate the differents effects in your 3d app

  15. Need an easy to use interface- recording option

Please provide a recording option that will take a series of tasks that a user performs - and at the completion of the recording will convert those tasks into a script that can be saved into the script pallet and executed at will

  16. Need an action to generate call-outs showing font style attributes

For example, if a heading paragraph style is Palatino Bold, color value: C15/M2/Y0/K36, 15 point type on 19 point leading, left aligned with an indent of 1p and space after of 2.6p, plus a nested character style, I would all like this information called out in a small label, on it's own layer in the file.

This action would make the same kind of label on its own layer for ALL the fonts styles in the file. This way I can make sample pages of my file and hand them over to someone else to finish up, with an easy…

  17. More Scripting Control over Panels, MenuItems, MouseEvents/Selections

It’ll be great, if e.g. I could hook into the mouse right click context menu of the paragraph styles panel, grab, which paragraph style was selected by the user, and perform some scripting tasks on this user selected paragraph style.

Or the user can select pages in the pages panel, perform the script (or right click to run the script from the context menu), which processes it’s scripting actions on the selected pages.

I think, there would be thousands of more clever use cases for such functionality. Allowing such actions will extend the power of scripting tremendously.

    (I’m sorry, it’s…

  18. fit frame to bleed

I would like to see a script that recognizes frames outside of the bleed coordinates, and snaps the frames to those coordinates. It just tidies up the pasteboard and helps with the center content in frame action. Thank you!

  19. Importing .fdf files for Importing PDF Comments

Thanks for your implementation of Importing PDF comments, this is definitely a game changer and the future of Print Production in the industry. One question I have is why are we unable to import the .fdf file with the comments from our PDFs straight into InDesign? When working on old PDFs made in 2018 or older we then have to make a new PDF in 2019 and apply those comments to that PDF and it feels like unnecessary hassle. Could the .fdf file created when exporting the comments in Acrobat just not be imported straight into InDesign instead?
