1. Page Layout Management in Bridge for InDesign Files

   It would be extremely beneficial to have a feature in Bridge that can interact with InDesign files, allowing for the visualization of individual pages directly within the Bridge interface. Furthermore, the ability to compose an overall layout for a magazine or book from separate pages in Bridge, or another similar software, would significantly improve the workflow for many users.

   This feature could save us countless hours, improve collaboration between teams, and potentially revolutionize the way we create composite pieces.

   I do not think the launch images in photoshop, indesign and illustrator are culturally sensitive. They should not include any people especially not raunchy females. They should be totally neutral - landscapes, nature, no people please!!

3. Integrate Adobe Express/Canva-like features into Indesign

   So Adobe Indesign has some BASIC animations and I feel this is a completely missed opportunity on Adobe's behalf. Apps like Canva have been spreading like wildfire for years and while Adobe has released Express it is a poor cousin. The idea behind Express/Canva is to have an easy-to-create, templated video/animated solution for social media (which let's face it, is mostly video now), yet as a very heavy InDesign user I should be able to animate and export these animations while also taking advantage of the powerful mail merge (text, images, and it really needs to also have swatches), bulk relinking, dynamically updating files features that we all know and love within the adobe suite.

   What I would love to see included in Indesign

   1/ export of animation in mp4 and gif (including transparency) formats.

   2/ Improved Animation (on a page and page transitions)

   3/ Additionally, the use of MOGRTs or being able to make your own custom animations with placeholders would be amazing.

   Why Adobe Express doesn't work

   • Creative Cloud Library files are not dynamic, which means having to upload every single element you want to use (for me that's around about 50 every month - same templated files, different theming).

   • These files are already on my computer and such a waste of time and resources to upload and replace each image when it's already on my computer. I may as well use Canva which has much more variety.

   • Also limited in animations

   Why Photoshop/After Effects/Premiere doesn't work

   • it lacks the ease to mailmerge multiple items so relinking is arduous

   Why in5 doesn't work

   • it's limited (gifs are created by screen recording in your browser so it cannot do transparent gifs)
   • it's expensive and limited

   I know a lot of people think that animation and InDesign are in the past, but if you look at businesses that have basically made a multimillion-dollar business out of that base premise I guarantee you will see they have a bright future together.

5. Better use of tags to create a barrier-free PDF with InDesign

   Hello Adobe InDesign Team

   for accessibility I have to use TAGs in PDFs. I creat my PDF out of InDesign and InDesign has already some features to add TAGs and structure to a PDF when exported but some features are buggy or incomplete so the PDF has to be revised manually, which is a big disadvantage especially when there are changes in the original InDesign file later.

   So here some of the most imported things I would changes to make this process easier.

   1. Add PDF/UA-1
      A barrier-free PDF need the PDF/UA-1 Note in the XMP-Metadata. I can only be done via Acrobat by now. (see PDF-UA-1.jpg)

   2. Add custom alternative text to „all“ link-TAGs
      Every link-TAG needs an alternative text to be barrier-free. By now you can only add custom alternative texts to links-TAGs that are created via the hyperlink window. But InDesign creates also link-Tags for other elements where you can not add an alternative text. This is the case if you

   3. create a table of contents with InDesign

   4. use end or footnotes

   5. use cross-references

   6. Missing Tags in the Paragraph Styles tag export setting
      In the Paragraph Styles setting under Tagexport is no option for a caption tag or a quote tag:

   7. Undefined path object
      If I use graphical effects for texts or tables (drop shadow, colored underline for text, colored text box, line between table rows…) this path objects are not tagged when exported. They need to be tagged as arte fact.

   8. Tabel, TH not THead , TD not Body
      InDesign exports tabels with wrong tag. The tag for a table head is TH not THead. The tag for a table cell is TD not TBody. Also you need to be able to be more precise to define what cell is a TH in a tabel and what cell is TD. Also you have to be able to define if TH in a column refer to TD in a row. See tabel-head.

7. Add color to alpha option for linked images

   I would like to be able to set the white background of a black and white UPC png to transparent. Using a clipping path does not work very well with UPCs as it either clips off some of the bars or leaves some white space around the numbers.

   I don't see how it would be too difficult to define a color as transparent for a linked graphic to make it not necessary to edit the original graphic.

9. Export JPG with specific name and as a background task

   Now that many users are using INDD to prepare web graphics INDD needs a feature to be able to name the page so when the pages are exported as JPGs or PNGs they are named properly.

   I found a script to do this but it would be great to build this into the application. All that would be needed is a variable where we could add the name and INDD would look at that text frame to name the exported files.

   This is important to do it this way so this can be a feature of data merge as well. In addition to content for the web graphic coming in from a CSV users can also have a column with the page name so INDD uses that specific page name during the export to name the exported files.

   Now that many users are using INDD to prepare web graphics INDD needs a feature to be able to name the page so when the pages are exported as JPGs or PNGs they are named properly.

   I found a script to do this but it would be great to build this into the application. All that would be needed is a variable where we could add the name and INDD would look at that text frame to name the exported files.

Why should the metadata and keyword contents embedded in an image file be wiped when exported as a .PNG File>. AS the need for transparent PNG files needed for AR experiences becomes more critical for use in Aero and other AR environments, the metadata should travel with any export from INDD

11. Enlarge maximum image export sizes

    I work for a company which uses InDesign for webtoon-style comic content. These are often extremely long vertical images (10000-20000px is common). When attempting to export to JPG/PNG for processing, InDesign will not process the larger files, claiming that they exceed the maximum size, even at resolutions as low as 200dpi (webtoons typically go online at 350dpi so these images need to be upscaled).

    Exporting to PDF and re-exporting to the relevant image format allows the images to export at size, but often with additional scaling and does not 1:1 match the original pixel size.

    This clearly isn't a limit to the file spec but to the engine.

12. Cross-check links used on both ways

    Hi, the idea is to be able to check the links that a certain file (let's call file A) is being linked to.

    The file A can be used as a link on files 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... so when I open file 1 and go to the links panels I can see my file A listed there. Right? But not the other way around, such as we can't see the files (1,2,3...) in which that one file (file A) is linked to unless we go one by one (1,2,3...). Would be great to have a link to and linked at panel, to see it both ways.

    InDesign has become a powerful DTP-application but one feature is missing. Please add support for real database publshing (catalogs etc.). This feature would make thrid-party plugins like inCatalog or inData obsolet..

15. Accessibility Layer or Plugin

    As accessibility becomes a prioritized feature of all documents, its pertinent to include it without sacrificing aesthetics, which is Adobe's strength. One idea for this is for the designer to create the InDesign document as they normally would on an initial layer, and upon a secondary "layer" the plain text for an e-reader could be supplied, mapped to the corresponding visual layer. This could be a less destructive method than physically altering text box widths to avoid soft returns/rags, or creating new text boxes for each text/paragraph style. It would also export ready to go without further alteration in Acrobat. The "accessible" layer could either be manually placed, OR, through the help of AI be pulled out automatically as the designer adds content. A good example of a similar concept would be audio scripts/summary as an alternative to captions for video content (non-destructive but allows for accessibility) A predecessor to this would be an InDesign Accessibility Checker, but would take it much further to allow the designer to maintain organic, visually pleasing creative while also being sure to comply with accessibility standards.

    Problem:
    If DIFFERENT USERS need to work on the same file AT THE SAME TIME.

    Goal:
    Two or more users working on real time on the same file.

    Currently:
    they need to save a copy of the parent file and then merge them into one unified file.

    Solution:
    With this new feature, only elements touched by each user would be locked for the rest. By saving the document would mean to release all objets and send updates to be visible to everyone.

    This is really important to create solid workflows and to avoid potential mistakes while merging files if two different users have been working from a parent document.

17. Locked Content — Functionality Request

    SUBJECT — Locked Content on InDesign Pages

    • InDesign — version 17.3

    This request applies to when an InDesign page has locked content — in other words, when multiple text boxes and image boxes and other page elements are all locked.

    • When an InDesign page has multiple text boxes and image boxes that are locked, often enough I want to access only one of the locked text boxes to make a simple change to the text.

    • Currently, in order to access that textbox to make the change, the quickest way I've found requires me to unlock the ENTIRE page and make the change — and then, in order to lock the text boxes and image boxes again, I have to select all those boxes AGAIN and re-lock them.

    • The functionality of a previous version of InDesign was more user-friendly — that older version of InDesign allowed me to simply click on the text box with one of the selector tools and make the simple change to the text, and that text box and all the other text boxes and image boxes would STAY LOCKED — so there was no need to AGAIN have to select the boxes and lock them again after making that one simple change to the text.

    • Can this older and very helpful locked-content functionality be restored and added to InDesign version 17.3 and upcoming InDesign versions? Adding and/or restoring this functionality would make InDesign more convenient, more user-friendly, and less aggravating for your current users, including me.

18. keyboard shorcuts for pdf comments

    would be great if we could use the standard way of copying text - double click then ctrl c - for copying text from the pdf comment field, instead of having to swipe over the text and wait for the popup and then click on the popup. Also would be great if we could delete comments with a shortcut, (delete key maybe?) instead of having to use the little drop down menu. This would make working with comments much more efficient.

20. Create native paths from imported vector

    Convert (simple) imported Illustrator files to native InDesign paths.

    This makes it easy to e.g. convert a logo and make the InDesign document independent of an external graphic.
