  2. "Use Typographer's Quotes" should be an option in Character and Paragraph styles

"Use Typographer's Quotes" should be an option in Character and Paragraph styles.
I generally use typographer's quotes. But when I'm typing in feet, inches, etc. I want the associated sign to be straight, e.g., 5' and 6". I should be able to make a style to do this. (Rather than going to (Type --> insert special character --> quotation marks) every time I want to do this.

  3. Keeping some formatting when linking unformatted tables from excel

It would be great to have an option similar to typographer's quotes, when linking unformatted tables to excel. An option with a preference checklist to allow superscript, subscript, underline, strikethrough, alignment, etc. while still removing fonts, size, etc. especially the superscript/subscript is crucial when dealing with excel, so it could also just be a tick box for this like with typographers quote.

  5. Fit Tables to Frame

Sometimes you just know how exactly a table should look, so a table that would just fill the frame you just created would just make sense. A way to resize the table without distorting its content or anything else would be a nice improvement to.

  6. Auto-fit column width in tables

Add a feature for tables such as that in Excel (Home > Format > AutoFit Column Width). The "at least" feature for row height is great, but we need something for the width too! A command that resizes the selected column(s) to fit the longest line of text in that column of the table. Bonus: Any leftover space in the table width could be distributed between all columns automatically, or in one chosen column.

  7. Convert Table to Form

Should be a simple way to tell InDesign (and later Acrobat) that a table is a form.

Column A are the Field names, column B are the blank fields. No field recognition necessary, just spreadsheet logic. Even a dialog where you define which rows/columns are what would be a huge boost.

Would save 3 headaches: 1) not knowing if Acrobat will recognize the fields, 2) renaming each field 1-by-1, and 3) setting the text formatting 1-by-1 (Acrobat can batch this but InDesign can't).

  8. Faster Form Field Workflow - Batch Editing, Fields List Panel, Faster Renaming

Need the ability to select multiple form fields to edit their input appearance in batch. Bare minimum we need a list of fields in a panel, similar to Acrobat.

Couldn't get Acrobat to recognize table fields in a form I made with InDesign, so I converted the cells to graphic cells and made them text form fields. But then I could only select one at a time to edit their names, choose font, etc.

Working on forms with a lot of fields takes a lot of clicks as it stands now. A panel with all fields would allow faster renaming…

  10. "Split Column" within a table cell

I'd like to be able to use the "Split Column" feature within a table cell. I can do a work around sometimes by creating an extra column and making the middle line invisible, but when I've got three columns above one merged cell, I can't get things centered.

  11. Repeat Table header?Skip the first row of the first table instead of the whole header of the first page

Duplicate header, there is an error.

Can I skip the first line of the header instead of the whole header.

What's the point of skipping the whole header on the first page?

My header has two lines. I skip the first line on the first page, which is more useful. How to operate?

David Blatner used a method, helpless, no real perfect solution.

    Adobe needs to improve.

  12. Updating numbers only in a table of contents

We should have two options when it comes to update a table of contents.
    1- Update entire table
    2- Update page numbers only

Word allows it. Why don’t InDesign too?

I’ll be waiting for this change in next update! It’ll change my life!

  16. Table import from word assigns no table style not default [basic table]

When importing (place) Word doc with tables, the tables are assigned the table style of [No Table Style] not the default [Basic Table]. Either provide a mechanism to edit the [No Table Style] or use the default [Basic Table]

  17. "Yes to All" button when edits have been made to the imported version of a file location.

The lack of a "Yes to All" button when updating all links to a file location is debilitating. I literally have to press enter almost 3,000 times every time that InDesign notifies me that...

"Edits have been made to the imported version of "document name.here". You will lose these edits (with the exception of changes applied to spreadsheets through cell styles or table styles) when you update the link. Update anyway?"

The only options are "Yes" or "No" which requires me to sit there and hit the enter button for each pop-up message for an hour! Not to mention that…

  18. set variable horizontal alignement in tables

    Hi,

there's a feature that surprisingly doesn't exist in indesign.

    1. It is impossible to set the horizontal alignement of the first column of table like in word.. The problem is that I have to set it only in paragraph style (right align of text) and force the paragraphs in the first column to be left aligned AND each time I change the paragraph style (what can happens a lot with some clients), the paragraph in the first column is set back to right align.

    2. We should be able to set the alignement of the first column directly in table style…

  19. Conditional rows and columns in tables.

I really miss the possibility to hide/show table rows and columns based on a condition. It would work exactly like conditional text that is already available in InDesign. You would select a table row or column and apply a condition.

  20. Apply more than one cell style to a cell

With more complex tables, such as those for financial reports, the number of cell styles required becomes very slow to work with.

This is because you may want one column in one colour, another in a different colour, but then a row stroke cuts across all the columns.

At the moment, InDesign only allows you to have one cell style applied per cell. This means that when you've styled your table using one cell style, e.g. a colour, when you then add the other cell style for a row stroke, it will override the first cell style.

    You then have…
