  1. Improved spot colour assignment

You've introduced 'useful' cloud sharing features and project integration over the last few versions but would it be possible to make assigning spot colours or custom colours easier across InDesign, illustrator and Photoshop? I waste so much time switching back and forth across apps, trying to set up the correct colour information ready for print. It's still so convoluted and always feels like I'm fudging my artwork. I end up resorting to changing all spot elements to 100% Black and creating a separate page. That's not intuitive or helpful, that's just winging it.

  2. Background Packaging

It would be amazing if when you are packaging a document, the packaging would go on in the background (like when you export as a PDF) so that I can continue to work on other things while something is being packaged. Sometimes packaging takes 5+ minutes and I feel like I have wasted time when I could be working on something else while it packages in the background.

    Just an idea!

  3. PDF of thumbnails from Print Dialog box

I'd like to send a PDF of my 3x3 thumbnails for a client instead of printing out or sending a PDF of individual digital ads. My print dialog box says Not Supported when I try to create a PDFs.

Seems like a simple fix. Anyone else?

  4. Zip Fonts When Packaging

It would be great if there was an option to have fonts collected in a zip file when packaging a document. Fonts are often corrupted when transferred via the cloud, or FTP, and need to be zipped to maintain their integrity. It would be time saving if InDesign could do this automatically.

  5. Print dialog reverts to 1 copy

    1. I wish the print dialog box defaulted back to 1 copy like all other software programs that I am familiar with.

    2. As a teacher I am updating student printouts every semester. When I am ready to proof read my changes, I hit Cmd+P and walk over to the printer to find 87 copies sitting there waiting to be proofed, because I had printed 87 finished copies the previous semester. Yes, I am aware of this quirk of InDesign, but hitting Cmd+P followed by return is muscle memory. I know I have wasted several reams of paper over the years.

  7. customer collect fonts

Have InDesign be able to open a collect and fonts even if the collect is renamed or moved so that the font/link won't get broken

  8. Layout-Options for "Cross-fold"-Brochures.

When designing "Cross-fold"-Brochures, it would be helpful if it would be possible to arrange the pages in the pages-palet. Currently it's only possible to arrange them in a row, even if the pages on the pasteboard are arranged as they will be printed.

  9. Convert links to resolution

Convert a copy of selected links to 300 dpi (or any chosen resolution).
    Including upscaling or downscaling.
    Alos available on packaging

This would be helpful especially when supplied images are way too big, or some images are fine though a bit low res and need to be upscaled for print.

Please start using the standard path location of files. I'm struggling with data merge handling thousands of images, which I would like to structure. Now I have to place all images within the main project folder, which makes it really messy.

This is not the way it should work, especially as we use this document on several different computer - which would make us change the master data every time we work with it.
    C:/path/path/path/path/indesignproject/images/image.jpg

Ideal would be to follow the standard OS paths which would make it work on the computer your opening the project on without having to…

  13. The A4 size

The size of the A4 pages are not accurate. Normal size is 11.0x8.3 inches. Also since printers don't print all the way to the edge the documents go out of whack to try to adjust. I'm making a theatrical program for a school project and have had to get very creative with my solutions, wasting a lot of paper in the process.

  14. How do I reset HP Printer Is Offline error within my Printer?

The HP printer’s Drum unit is a separate consumable unit that usually should be replaced after the use of 3 to 4 toner cartridges. If you possess a HP laser printer and getting a Replace Drum message on display of your printer, then it might be the right time to get a new drum. In order to track usage, your HP printer utilizes a page counter, which must be reset manually whenever a new drum is installed. If resetting doesn’t perform successfully, then you may face HP Printer Is Offline error. However, the online experts are only one call away…

  18. Add items during packaging

I hope you can also include additional files during packaging. When we package files, we usually include 3 PDF files (Print Quality for Readers, with Bleed for the Printer, and Low Quality for uploading online. In addition to the PDF files, we add another file which is the cover of the publication in JPEG format. Hope this will be added in the future. Thanks.

  19. Revert back so files can be moved or renamed while the file is open

If you have a file open and make changes, then move the icon to another folder, or change the document name. This corrupts the file until the icon has been put back in the original place or renamed back to the original title. This causes lots of problems if you have multiple indesign files open and you are moving them around the computer as you work on different projects throughout the day. It is very easy to loose all of your work if you can’t remember the exact location of the original file or the exact name of the document…

  20. Diagnostic tool for Pre-flighting files/fonts

    Diagnostic tool for Pre-flighting files/fonts

Indesign says it can't copy necessary files? But what files are those? why is there a problem? The information provided is weak, and needs to be stronger and support a better workflow. I think designs want better informational tools and pre-flighting.
