  2. After creating a QR-Code-symbol, I can´t change the color in InDesign.

I have to copy-paste it to Illustrator, copy-past back to Indesign, to change the color. Wouldn´t it be comfortable, to change the color directly in Indesign?

  4. Align round a circle

There shod be an option (in all of the Adobe programs) to have align around a circle and to be able to distribute the objects evenly around a circle (or other shape for that matter)

  5. Multiple strokes like Illustrator has

InDesign should have the ability to have more than one stroke on an object the way that Illustrator does. I've wanted this multiple times and now it's come up again with a design that uses a filled frame behind a headline and also a stroke inside the bounding box of the filled frame. To make this design efficient in production, the ideal is for this to be one object with the type in the center, the stroke a controlled distance away and another stroke that is the same color as the fill outside the first stroke. See attached screen shot.…

  6. Add the ability to data merge text files like images

I am data merging a document that includes both images and tables of information in adobe tagged text files. Currently, the @ symbol is used for image fields, would it be possible for the # or & to be used for text files?

  7. InDesign Preflight should be pressready (default)

InDesign Preflight should be pressready (default)
Bleed 3 mm, no low-resolution images,
no RGB-swatches, no missing links or fonts,
    no missing glyphs.
    That would be great.

  8. Allow border styles of top, right, bottom, left to vary

It would be great if you could have different border style for every of the four borders. In CSS it has been easy to specify different colours or stroke widths for ages. It would be great if you could do this in InDesign.

  9. We need an Adobe product that creates charts better than a MS product!

Years have gone by without Adobe recognizing that InDesign is used for a LOT of annual reports that are chart-heavy. Built-in functionality in Illustrator is appalling at best, then to have to break a chart apart and literally re-type every label for potentially 100+ charts for a report is ridiculous. We need the ability to control the look and feel of a wide variety of charts natively (with the ability link to various data sources -- spreadsheet, odbc, etc.).

    Alternatives?
Use Excel and export as a PDF and link it. However edits are onerous when you have to change the…

  10. Increase slug area limit

We create presentation slides, export them as pdf.

These pdf slides are connected to a notes booklet for attendees.

We want to create a version for the presenter and include notes in the slug area. but the slug area can only be a maximum of 152mm wide. Can you please increase this limit.

  11. Convert paths in placed vector image to native paths

It is now finally possible to place SVG files as well as PDF files. That is great news for the many, many people who create logos and such things in SVG.

Everything you place, however, is still placed as completely uneditable images, which in many cases makes it somewhat useless. Especially with simple things like vector logos, it would be immensely useful to be able to convert the embedded vector paths in the placed file to native InDesign paths to adjust things like stroke colour, etc., in the actual InDesign document. Essentially, making it possible to use an SVG/PDF/EPS file…

  12. Outline Mode, like Illustrator does!

Hey team! How about an outline mode like illustrator? A simple command that show you everything outlined in your artwork, that would be great if you're working for pre-press. I always had the feeling that indesign should have this feature to make easier QA process!

  13. Snapping priority (ignore objects when in snapping distance from guideline and do not snap to outline)

    When both options are active:
    - snap to objects
    - snap to guidelines.

InDesign behaves like schizophrenic making bad choices. And it is impossible to place objects on level.

Also InDesign snaps inner / outer outline of object to the guide, so when you have thin outlines (below one point) you never know to which side of outline object will be snapped and it will always be on different level than object without outline. And it creates mess.

Each time when there is a guide InDesign should snap to it in first place, ignoring the objects, and also object should…

  15. Calendar & layout

I have noticed that whenever I try to create a calendar in InDesign there is not a practical way to place the day and month automatically.
For example, the software allowed me to place the number in order form one to 31 but I cannot place the date automatically, like Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and so on.
I wish this indesign engineers can figure out a way you can add Recurring date and month autumnally. Just like the number I know that I can make a master page and the numbers can appear in order I want the software to…

  16. Auto convert heavy Ai + Pdf files so InDesign don't die on export...

Working with a lot of designers they often place very complicated and vector heavy patterens in indesign. (Ai+PDF format)

Indesign eats all - no problem.

Then the time comes and indesign need to make a PDF file, and it just dies!

I can now spend hour finding that one or more pattern with a gazillion points...

Why dont indesign say, --- > Hey! Stop! If you place this file you will not be able to make a PDF file, and i will likely crash and burn...

And then InDesign converts the file, on the fly.. And places the new file…

  17. Make guides work outside of the page like Illustrator

Self explanatory really - Make guides work outside of the page like Illustrator, so you can lay things out on the pasteboard accurately before you put it on your document.

  19. Sensei, use it to align text and shapes

    Hi all,
Could Sensei be used to align text and shapes? Seems like a no-brainer to me to let AI fix it.
An example , text in a circle.
Now if you want to align it, you first need to Frame to fit the text. Then you need to select both the textframe and the circle. Then align them horizontally and vertically. ( on some frames you need to nudge the text up a bit to really align then horizontally.
AI would could align both boundingboxes in less then a second.
    Please add it :)

  20. Adds the option to create sidenotes on Indiesign

Adding a built-in option to create side-notes in Indiesign, such comments that come next to the text where they are numbered. In addition, there will be control over whether to insert a separator between them and the main text, as well as control of the numbering style, and the paragraph or character style applied to them. Adding or subtracting one comment will update the number and position of the other comments, and if one comment goes beyond the page boundaries - move its content to the next page.
Also, the designer should be given the choice of three options -…
