  3. Option to Save/Export Group Items as separate IND File.

Can Adobe Indesign include an Option to Save/Export Group Items as separate IND File. It will be great as working adverts in magazine and/or newspaper something you start creating an Advert for client in the magazine file, and can later Save/Export the group as it's on separate IND file as a lnik.

  5. Support format style merging

When working on a document based on some template, it is often more convenient to alter paragraph styles (object and character styles, equally) in the current document, creating the need to check and evolve the template afterwards.
Luckily InDesign has the function to load styles from another document. This dialogue has some flaws and should be improved:
    - Selection: apart from "select all" and "deselect all", there should also be the option to "select modified", that is, only those styles which differ
    - definition display:
    * these displays are very small and do dot scale with the rest of the…

  7. Select which PSD artboards are displayed when placed into InDesign (similar to Illustrator)

When you place an illustrator file into InDesign, you can select which artboards you want to place. The same should be done with Photoshop artboards (instead of having to place the entire photoshop document).

  8. Add "transform" to images

Would speed up my work if i could transform images (free, perspective warp, ...) in InDesign and not only in Photoshop.

  9. Import from web-based locations. Like Digital Asset Managers.

It would be very beneficial for our workflow to be able to easily import images and other documents from web-based sources. For instance, we have all our images on a Digital Asset Manager (DAM), and would like to pull directly from that. That way, if the image is updated, we don't need to replace the files.

  10. Persistent Book Panel

I use Book files often (INDB) and it is very annoying the way the Book Panel disappears from the UI when I close all open INDD files. I have to go to the Window menu and then to the bottom and choose my open Book file to get the Book Panel back. Please could you make the Book Panel persistent in the UI and remember the place that I docked it. That would save me time.

  11. Place Photoshop artboards into InDesign

We need to be able to place Photoshop artboards into InDesign.

This should work similar to placing Illustrator artboards or placing pages from a PDF or another InDesign file.

    Thanks.

    In Backlog  ·  Anonymous responded

Thanks for the info. This is indeed correct that since the various artboards come in as a layers the dimensions are of the entire document which can be problematic. Adding this to our backlog.

  12. For documents that are "name-heavy", it would be great to be able to have the option within spellcheck to skip a page or skip a text box!

  13. improving master page functionality

It would be super helpful if i could create a master page with regions of text and then apply that to pages. Then, those regions could be edited in the page with the correct information, but if i needed to edit the placement of the stuff, i could change it in the master and it would sync to the page.

  14. Automatically group objects when pasting them into an image frame

At the moment InDesign does not let you paste several selected objects (that are not grouped) into an image frame. The user has to group the selection before pasting it with CMD+OPT+V into the image frame.

Please let InDesign automatically group the object when pasting or make it possible to paste ungrouped objects.

    Thanks

  15. other default setting for layer options when placing PDFs

When placing a PDF, default setting for actualization is "keep user-defined visability ...".
Once switched to "keep PDFs visability ...", in the next document it is again on default "keep user-defined visability ..."
I would prefer to have "keep PDFs visability ..." as a stable default for placing.

    Example:
    1. I added a new Layer to a PDF, but set it invisable by mistake.
    2. On actualization, I accepted "new layers visible as in PDF".
    3. Later, I remarked my mistake an repaired the PDF.
    4. On actualization again, nothing got better ...

I would prefer to know the PDFs…

  17. Enable Animated/Scrubby Zoom

Add the animated/scrubby zoom feature for PC users--it's time. It's ridiculous Photoshop and Illustrator has it, but not InDesign? Since Mac users are given tools PC users don't have, perhaps Adobe should discount our subscription fee.

  18. Intelligent color bleeding

Unless I am very wrong there's no option to Authomatically extend colours for the bleeding.

Of course to print and crop is necessary to add bleed and that involves placing images or extending them out of the margin.
How is it possible, coming from the company of photoshop, that a function so simple, yet so important is not possible in indesign? It's as easy as extending any color touching the margins of the document to the bleed: copying pixel color information perpendicular to the document.

Of course the possibility of doing it manually should stay, but this feature is a…

  19. Links panel: Place time

In "Links panel" we already have the option to add or change the columns displaying usefull info about the linked object. Choosing "Place Date" is an option to show the date when the object was placed.
Now... it would be neat if, in addition, the column could show the "time" as well.

  20. Contour mangement as illustrator

It would be awesome if the size of the shape doesn't matter of the size of the contour. For example, if i draw a 10x10cm square in illustrator, the size is the same with 0pt contour or 20pt contour.
Bur in Indesign, the size is 10x10cm only if there is a1pt contour, and 10,7x10,7 if there is a 20pt contour. It is very disturbing when you have to create a cutting shape.
