Improved default text settings
In Settings / Text, the checkbox "apply leading to whole paragraph" (or similar, I am using Swedish language) is unchecked by default. It has been this way since the stone age, but I can not see any reason at all why this should not be checked, leading to risk of errors. It should be checked by default.

Adjust Text Frame With Type Tool
It KILLS me every time I input or type text in INDD and get the cursed overset text error, but I have to switch to the Selection Tool to reframe the text box, then switch back to the Type Tool and continue. PowerPoint and even Google Slides allow you to move your cursor near the boundaries and adjust the size of the text frame without switching tools.
What's more, switching to different tools while editing type is slightly annoying. Because you can't hit 'v' for selection tool, you either have to click the selection tool or click outside the text…
1 voteYou can easily achieve this without the need to switch to the Selection Tool.
Hold down the Ctrl key (while you are in text edit mode or even when you are not in text edit mode or when the text frame that you want to resize is not even selected). When you hover the mouse over the text frame, you will see Resizing handles (shown as 9 solid points on the bounding box) – you can drag to resize the text frame.

Collaborating on translating
Hi everyone! First I have to say I love all the new features that are slowly being integrated into InDesign. But in all my honesty I really miss one..
We now can enjoy Share for review which I really love on getting comments from my clients. But what I would love to have is a online tool where my colleagues can enter translation for the file I worked on. Now I export files to pdf and make them in to a word file but that workflow takes a lot of time.
I know tools like redokun.com but they are expensive…

Anchored object - Contorna con testo
Object inserted in the text surrounds the first line of the paragraph with the inline or above line option but does not work on the first line of text with the custom option. Activate the surround with text even with the latter option. Thank you

“Split Footnotes” under Numbering & Section Options
Hello,
I want to ask for a little function tweak of “Split Footnotes”.
By now, you can only adjust “Split Footnotes” for the whole document.
This is difficult for documents with many pages! Sometime there are some footnotes in a chapter that you want to break over to the next page because they are to long. But the rest of the footnotes should be only on one page.
It would be nice to setup “Split Footnotes” as an “override” of the global function in the Numbering & Section Options in the Pages panel. So you can decide by the chapter…

A new Switch tool
Instead of ctrl+c, and ctrl+v, it could be invented a new function that switches existing text from a sentence to another. I would find it particularly useful in tables.
Ex:
I would like green apples
I would like yellow lemonsSelect green, ctrl+whatever, select yellow
Now I have
I would like yellow apples

Fixed Spaces Automatically set as Nonbreaking
It would be helpful if fixed spaces were not automatically treated as non-breaking. I often use fixed spaces to finesse typographic issues—like a lowercase "f" crashing into an uppercase letter that follows it (e.g., "if I"), which seems to happen a lot, even in reputable fonts. I don't however, necessarily want InDesign to prevent a line break after the fixed space.
Ideally, we would be able to have breaking and nonbreaking versions of all of the fixed spaces, but perhaps it wouldn't be very useful for hair or thin spaces. Ems, ens, thirds, fourths, and sixths, however....

Allow horizontal cursor position value to be copied
The Paragraph Formatting Controls show the Horizontal Cursor Position. It contains a numerical value, but it cannot be selected for copying.
I frequently use an "Indent to Here" character after an open quotation mark. But if I need to break a quotation into multiple paragraphs and quickly align the paragraphs to the position of the "Indent to Here" character, I need to manually enter the horizontal cursor position value into the Left Indent value.
It would be helpful to be able to copy the value of the horizontal cursor position, so I could paste it into the Left Indent value.

[Japanese]圏点の字数制限を外せないでしょうか。
現状では同時に文字の両側にルビをふることができませんが、右側にルビ、左側に圏点、同時に付けることはできます。しかし「圏点」はその性質上「一文字」しか許容されていません。考えられる対処は３つあります。①圏点の字数制限を外す。②圏点の機能をルビの機能に置き換える。③圏点の機能を「圏点＋ルビ（スーパーセット）」にする。もちろん③が望ましいですが、ニーズは極めて限定的と思われますので、①が妥当ではないかと考えます。UIもそのままで、複数文字を入れるとそのまま本文のセンター合わせで表示する。バグのようにも見え仕様のようにも見える、昔良く使った「裏技」を可能にするということです。ご検討ください。

Can we have columns option in Paragraph styles
can we have columns option in paragraph style, as i will save lots of text boxes to be created in a file, and user can type in only 1 Text box per page, rather then making text boxes for every single line. like i have 50,000 name labels to print, and i want each name to start from right and the next name should come exactly parallel on the left side in another column. and then it should go again to another column on the right side. Can i insert bullets of my choice, like alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo ... and so on.. or some thing in text? or can i pull up bullets from any readable file? like some txt file or any indd file?

MacBook Pro Special Characters
When using the newer MacBook Pro series, we are able to use special characters like e-diaeresis by simply holding our 'E' button and there will pop up a menu where we can then choose to select the preferable character.

Integration for Bengali (Bangladesh) Hunspell spellchecker
For years I've been using my own Bengali (Bangladesh) hunspell spellchecking dictionary in InDesign, and I wish it was just integrated into the software. I'm the author of it and I'd be happy to provide it to InDesign. But alongside this it would be nice if the process of adding new hunspell dictionaries was easier, if it didn't need to be redone after every update; and currently it doesn't even work.

Show error when paragraph composer cannot render lines
All too often, I run into text that doesn't render because of some feature of the text (unsure of all cases, but examples are words that exceed the line length, common in some languages and in URLs). I have a stable of techniques for dealing with these issues, but most usually I'm poking around in the dark: the lines I'm trying to fix are not visible in InDesign; I don't know what exactly is offensive (e.g., Chinese lines were usually things work, but sometimes they don't); and the offending text might have gremlins from the source text that are not…

Make it possible to lock down or freeze all kinds of text wraps made by detect edges
It would be great if there was a way to “freeze” all kinds of text wrap made by detecting edges in a document, or in other words to make them static, so they stop changing with the image. If the designer uses the final image, everything is fine. The problems arise when a print service provider has to make adjustments to the images prior to printing, such as changing color profiles, converting or correcting colors, downsampling, or replacing the designer’s lores versions with hires. shortcut for paragraph single-line composer
I use single-line composer all the time, to control text into spaces. But every time I have to manually change a paragraph in the paragraph window, dropdown, select.... I'd love a shortcut for this (have tried allocating one but can't)
